All About Joanna Krupa's Wedding Dress!
'The Real Housewives of Miami' star talks about her custom Chagoury gown.
When it came to choosing a dress for her June 13 wedding to Romain Zago, The Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa wanted to stand out from the average bride, she reveals to The Dish.
"I didn't want a typical wedding dress. I wanted to go short," she says of her $30,000 Chagoury couture gown. Inspired by photos of a family friend's similarly short, strapless wedding dress, Joanna, 34, initially wanted a higher hemline—until she started thinking about a more fairytale look. "So I said, 'Well maybe we should do both: short in the front, but you still have the tail in the back," she recalls. "So that’s how we ended up with the half short, half long dress."
Krupa's sartorial choices weren't totally up to her—the groom also had input for her gown. "Romain told me, 'Listen, you're only young once and you have great legs so show 'em off!'" Krupa says. "He wanted me to be sexy. And with the hair, he said, 'Please don’t do the typical wedding hairdo. Girls age 20 years because they have this horrible updo! Please do the Brigitte Bardot!' I gave him little bits and pieces of what he requested."

Joanna's big entrance wasn't without problems. Her train was so heavy that she needed help to walk. "I had to have my bridesmaids carry the train until I got ready to walk down the aisle," she says. Fortunately, her maid-of-honor, sister Marta, suggested having the dress made with a detachable train. "Because there was no way in heck I would be able to dance and enjoy myself at the reception with a long-ass train," Joanna says. "I loved it!"
Romain had the same reaction. When the groom saw his bride walk down the aisle for their late-afternoon nuptials, he was blown away. "He was like, 'Oh my god!'" says Joanna, who told the Dish that her wedding was "the happiest moment of her life."
"He couldn’t get over how stunning the dress was," she continues. "And he told my hair and makeup artist Tony that he outdid himself this time. He said, 'I've never seen her look this amazing.' That was really sweet of him."
The couple's wedding will be featured on the upcoming season of the Real Housewives of Miami, set to air on Bravo in August.
