Rosebud Lips and Yellow Face Paint?! 8 Wild Trends From Chanel, Dior, and More!
Who said pink eye was a bad thing?
Paris Haute Couture Week wrapped yesterday, and we're left with beaucoup de beauty inspiration. Here are eight fresh trends, served up by Chanel, Dior, and more. Now, how many of these would you actually try at home?
1. Pink Eyelashes
Envelope-pushing artist Pat McGrath made up the models for Maison Margiela's "Artisanal" show. And if you think pink eyebrows and lashes are unusual, wait till you see what else she did.
2. Yellow Streaks
The Maison Margiela models walked the runway with streaks of yellow face paint brightening their foreheads and slashed across their mouths.
3. Sparkling Lips
Pat also did the makeup for Atelier Versace's show. Her girls looked equal parts luminous and mysterious in dark-red lips that brought on the sparkle and shine.
4. Graphic Eyeliner
For Dior's show, which paired sandals with gowns (we love it), makeup artist Peter Philips gave each girl her own style of inky black, graphic eyeliner. He aptly described the look as "haute couture eyeliner."
5. Gold Eyeliner
Some of the models at Dior wore golden, winged eyeliner.
6. Ombre Eyebrows
At Chanel, makeup artist Tom Pecheux gave his girls rosy cheeks, smudged eyeliner, white eye shadow, and major lashes. Some of the models had ombre eyebrows, which went outward from dark to light.
7. Golden Hair Bands
The makeup was more subdued at the Elizabethan-inspired Valentino show. Stylist Guido Palau tied delicate golden bands into the models' hair, tying it behind their necks to frame their faces. We've named this look "jewelry hair."
8. Rose-Petal Lips
We're not quite sure how makeup artist Sam Bryant pulled off this magical look—except that she used MAC Cosmetics to do it. But somehow, Sam gave model Soo Joo Park rose-petal lips at the Jean Paul Gaultier show.
