Guess Which Model is About to Try Her Hand at Acting
Watch out, Cara Delevingne, another supermodel is adding "actress" to her resume.
Joan Smalls isn't content to close Moschino shows and model for the cover of Vogue. The 28-year-old supermodel just landed her first major acting role, according to US.
It won't be on the big screen: Joan is going to make her debut as an actress on a Netflix comedy series called Set It Up , which is slated to air later this year. She has some heavy-hitters for costars: Lucy Liu, Taye Diggs, Zoey Deutch, and Glen Powell will also appear in the series (Joan plays Glen's character's girlfriend). The show is about two friends who set their overbearing bosses up on a date, to disastrous results.
“Words cannot describe this feeling! So extremely lucky and honored to be part of such an insanely talented cast and team," Joan wrote on Instagram. "Thank you to EVERYONE who made this posible. Can't wait for you all to see."
Joan follows in the footsteps of other models who've crossed over to acting: Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad, Paper Towns, Valerian), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers, Mad Max: Fury Road), and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, The Fifth Element) come to mind. So, Kendall Jenner and Bella and Gigi Hadid — your move?
