Captain Lee: I Would Have Fired Jen

First, let me apologize for missing by blog last week, but after viewing the episode, it was probably just as well. I will try to make up and I hope some of the crew does too. We have a returning guest this week, you may remember, Timothy Sykes. So we will see how that whole thing plays out as well. I’m not going to comment on the guests; you, the viewing audience do a much better critique than I ever could, so I will leave that up to you. Well now, let’s get started.
Jen, let get this over with. You may not be the worst drunk person I’ve ever observed, but you are in the top 5 no doubt. You have a mean streak that really jumps out after a couple of pops. Kate was totally correct – had I witnessed your behavior, last charter or not, you would have been walking down the dock. And your “after the fact” apologies are just sorry ass excuses for bad behavior that you simply cannot rationalize at all. And enough with the eye roll. You are in no position to be doing that sort of thing, period. I really hope you suck it up and make it through this last charter. I had such high hopes that you would reach your potential this season, but will have to wait and see I suppose. Oh, and I totally agree with you that Kyle was really just overacting to you sampling his food. To refuse to eat anything was just childish behavior on his part.
Nico, it is refreshing to see you taking some responsibility for your actions for a change. Some of the potential I know is in there just may start to surface. You state that you don’t want to just jump from one relationship to another, but you do with little or no regard for the people that you affect around you. For your sake, I hope you get that straight in your mind. It will make your life a lot easier to deal with. Not only for you, but those around you as well. Let’s see how the rest of this charter plays out.
Kyle, sometimes you just amaze me. When I think I’ve seen it all, you come along and top everything. You’re so upset with Jen over a little thing at dinner. But you still want to have an exchange of bodily fluids with her? Couldn’t you have just overlooked that, instead of ruining dinner for everyone? No, I suppose not. And then, when Jen called Baker a whore, you get all up in arms, right when you’re just about to let Jen have the privilege of sleeping with you. Then you say you still would, but just because it’s there. Well aren’t we just full of ourselves? Personally, I think you would hump a rock pile if you thought there was a possibility of a snake being in there. Kate was right. It’s not about you. You’re there to do a job. I don’t care if your feelings are hurt. I don’t really care if someone put a fork tine in your gravy boat. Put on some big boy knickers, shake it off, and do the job you were hired to do. And not be so concerned with everyone else’s business that doesn’t concern you. Oh, and just a thought, not sure Jen would really consider “sleeping with you” the privilege you might think it is. That ship may have sailed.
Matt, you pulled out all the stops and really hit a home run so far on this charter. And Mr. Sykes is not the easiest man to please, but so far you are batting 1,000. It also appears that you are having a good time doing it as well. Perhaps, as opposed to asking the likes of Chris Brown and others, you should have had more conversations with Kate. Because it seemed to me that you and her were checking all the boxes and then some. There was nothing that I could see that was even the least bit questionable. Well done, there is the Matt I knew was in there. Let’s see if it carries to the season finale?
Baker, you are such a stud. You had another strong performance this week, as usual. Good conversation with Nico, hope he listened. Kept your cool with Jen, nothing easy about that. And then the next day let it go like a pro. And still got your job done with a smile on your face. Great smile I might add as well. I know you will finish strong, no doubt in my mind.
Bruno, you need to realize that, one, that whole conversation with Jen should have been left alone, and two, you never ever put your hands on another crew member, unless they want you to. Now I’m not clairvoyant, but my guess is Jen did not want to be locked in the bathroom, which by the way locks from the inside, for future reference. And she certainly didn’t appear to want you to escort her to said bathroom either. Got yourself in a situation that you could not possibly win, no matter how good your intentions were.
On the matter of your injury. You got yourself bit by a rookie mistake. Got yourself wrapped up in a line attached to something you were throwing over the side. Recipe for disaster. But you got away with it this time. A cheap lesson, considering how bad that could’ve turned out if that had been a jet ski instead of the slide. All in all, except for those two items, you worked through your injury, for which you deserve kudos, and you didn’t dwell on the matter with Jen either. That too is commendable. So I feel you had a good week. Let’s hope you finish strong as well.
Kate, well done with everyone this week. You were correct, had I witnessed Jen’s behavior, I would have fired her and you would’ve been short handed with Mr. Sykes coming on board. You and Bri didn’t need that right then. You handled that well. Good job with Matt as well. He should have spent more time conversing with you this season and perhaps it would have been easier on him. As far as Kyle goes, your interaction with him I personally thought was a waste of time and breath, but good effort anyway. I thought you had an exceptional week and we will see how the rest plays out. I’m not worried at all.
Bri, congrats on your promotion. I felt you deserved it as well. You have really blossomed this season. One thing I noticed was when you were talking with Nico about the meeting with Jen and Kate, you said you felt you were put in the middle. Not sure I agree with that. I always bring another person in when I am disciplining someone so that I have a witness as to what transpired so nothing can come back and turn into a conundrum as so frequently happens. Other than that, I thought you had a solid week and am looking forward to seeing how you finish the season. Oh, and I thought you dealt with Nico nicely, not sure if I felt he deserved such understanding, but you did well. At least he didn’t text you.
