There's an Incredible Backstory Behind Captain Lee Rosbach's Necklace
People have been wondering about the Below Deck captain's dolphin-flecked medallion on a thick gold chain.
Charter guests, hairstyles, and even crew members might come and go on Below Deck. But, there's one thing that remains constant, and that's — you guessed it — the necklace that Captain Lee Rosbach wears. Constantly hanging around the stoic captain's neck, the ever-present accessory is a dolphin-flecked medallion hanging on a thick gold chain. And if you're anything like us, you've always wondered: What is the backstory there?
Well, wonder no more. Because on January 8, a Below Deck fan took one for the team and got in direct contact with the captain himself. The mission: to find out, once and for all, what those dolphins mean. But first, take a look at this snap of the captain to see the necklace itself, glowing in the setting sun.
In the tweet, the fan wrote: "The best wife and I are watching tonight’s episode and wondering what’s on the necklace you’re wearing? Is it a steering wheel?" And, lo and behold, the captain responded.
He answered: "It is a coin from the Spanish Galleon called the Atocha which sank off of Key West in the 16th century and was discovered by Mel Fischer. My bride had it made for me."
Isn't that romantic?! We love how Captain Lee always refers to his wife as "my bride."
