The Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast member took to Instagram this week to announce the official launch of Galley Girls in the City, a cookbook that focuses on “healthy, easy, and delicious" meal recipes. Daisy completed the project alongside her good friend Bryony Johnson, a professional chef who specializes in sports nutrition.

In her May 23 announcement, the Irish chief stew said she met Bryony in 2017 while they were working on a yacht, and immediately developed an “incredible” friendship: “Bryony and I have been working on this for months and wanted to make sure it was perfect and accessible for everyone,” she wrote on Instagram. “Bryony is a very talented chef and we’ve had had [sic] the most incredible working relationship and friendship and we are so happy we get to share our journey with you all… I can’t wait to see what you all cook.”

How it all started

According to Bryony’s website, the Galley Girls cookbook was conceived back in 2021, months after the COVID-19 lockdowns were imposed. The two yachties were working in the Caribbean at the time and were “trying to make sense of what might happen” as uncertainty loomed over the world.

“From wrestling with those challenges, and after countless hours cooking, eating and sampling local food and rum, Bryony’s expertise in nutrition and Daisy’s passion for food have become this, their very first recipe book,” the website reads.

Bryony teased the cookbook, which will also offer vegetarian and vegan recipes, during International Women’s Day back in March.

“The book showcases my knowledge of nutrition and Daisy love of good food!” she wrote on Instagram. “We believe that healthy, mouthwatering food should never compensate on flavour that wont take hours in the kitchen! Let’s continue to support and work together.”

Galley Girls is now available in ebook form and is expected to get the hardback treatment in the near future.

What's next for Daisy?

The cookbook arrives about a month after the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast member announced A Day with Daisy — an introductory course that will shed light on the yachting industry and what it takes to become a stew.

“If you are looking into getting into yachting, curious about the industry or you just want to have a fun day hanging out with me, then this is the perfect event for you!” Daisy shared on Instagram. “Bursting with information, food and drinks included and a goodie bag you won’t want to miss this.”

The event will take place on June 3 in London.
