This Is the Reason Why Ariana and Katie's Sandwich Shop Hasn't Opened Yet

Katie Maloney hit up TikTok this month to provide another quick update on Something About Her, the long-awaited sandwich shop she’s opening with Ariana Madix. The Vanderpump Rules castmates were expected to open the eatery in the spring of 2023 but were forced to postpone the launch as they finished the interior, finalized the menu, and got the necessary paperwork in order.

“Our design and build-out and everything is gonna be finished by the end of May, so we’re not wrong about one of the things,” Katie said earlier this year during an appearance on the So Bad It’s Good with Ryan Bailey podcast. “We are gonna be open this summer… I’m hesitant to give a more specific time because the last thing I want to do is [have] people like, ‘You said…’”
Katie explained there were “so many moving parts” in trying to open a restaurant, and many of those factors were out of her control. She alluded to this fact in a recent TikTok video in which she addressed individuals who were still hung up on a spring launch date.

Katie suggests permits are holding up the eatery's opening
The TikTok showed Katie dancing through Something About Her in a seemingly unbothered state. Her message was a reference to Drake’s music rollouts, which are known to experience multiple pushbacks.
Katie shed more light on the situation in the TikTok caption. “Crying in permits,” she wrote, suggesting the delay was due to regulatory policies.

Ariana and Katie announced their business venture in Vanderpump Rules Season 9, saying they wanted to create an “unapologetically feminine” sandwich shop with a “European” vibe. Since then, the two have made huge strides in making their dreams a reality. They secured a lease in West Hollywood, enlisted a renowned interior decorator, and conducted multiple taste tests with friends and family.
Katie showcased potential menu items after a June tasting session centered around savory and sweet bread.
“All those breads? We tasted all those breads,” she said in an Instagram Story. “We had a bread day today at Something About Her, ’cause we’re trying to make the best sandwiches you’ve ever had. And in order to do that, we have to have the best bread. We can’t just have sliced bread. What are you thinking? And, yeah, now I’m slipping into a carb coma, ’cause that is a real thing… I cannot wait for y’all to taste our sandwiches.”
