Katie Shares a Delicious Update on Her and Ariana’s Sandwich Shop
The Vanderpump Rules cast members are expected to open the eatery sometime this summer.
Katie Maloney provided a quick refresher in Good Sandwich Making 101: You can’t have a quality sammie without quality bread.
The Vanderpump Rules cast member took to Instagram on Thursday, June 15, to share another update on Something About Her, the highly anticipated sandwich shop she’s opening with Ariana Madix. Katie began by posting a video of herself inside the cozy eatery, which has been decorated with seafoam green arch panels, Parisian-like sconces, and framed artwork. She then showed off some of the delicious-looking items that may appear on SAH’s menu.
Katie and Ariana aim to deliver “the best sandwiches you’ve ever had”
The mouthwatering posts were originally uploaded by Katie’s friend Janet Elizabeth, who was lucky enough to visit the shop during a food tasting.
“I stopped by [Something About Her] today and meant to take a photo of how beautiful it is inside,” Janet wrote in a June 15 Instagram Story, “but [Katie] and [Ariana] were tasting breads so I got distracted and only took photos of bread.”
The pictures provided close-ups of sweet and savory baked goods, including everything from croissants and baguettes to buttery rolls and stuffed pastries.
“All those breads? We tasted all those breads,” Katie said in a following Instagram video. “We had a bread day today at Something About Her, ’cause we’re trying to make the best sandwiches you’ve ever had. And in order to do that, we have to have the best bread. We can’t just have sliced bread. What are you thinking? And, yeah, now I’m slipping into a carb coma, ’cause that is a real thing… I cannot wait for y’all to taste our sandwiches.”
Something About Her has been years in the making
Katie and Ariana announced the business venture during Vanderpump Rules Season 9 and have made huge strides over the past year. Since securing a location in West Hollywood, the castmates have provided plenty of looks at SAH’s interior as well as some of the sandwiches they will offer.
“This whole Something About Her [concept], and the vision behind that, was wanting it to be romanticized lunch, à la rom-coms,” Katie said on an episode of Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino. “I want to live in a Nancy Meyers movie. So when we were talking about what this place looks like and feels like, I’m like, ‘Well, who does Nancy Meyers’ movies?’”
She went on to say that the menu would consist of elevated classics.
“You’re gonna have a traditional turkey, but maybe with a little bit of spice or kick to it; a spicy Italian; I love a good egg-salad sandwich,” she said. “We gotta have some seasonal salads we can rotate, depending on the time of year… We wanna do beer and wine. Ariana, she can make a lot of wine-based cocktails. She has the skills for that.”
When will Something About Her open its doors?
Katie and Ariana have not announced SAH’s grand opening, as they wanted to “crystalize a plan” with a team of experts. However, Katie has continued to tease a summer launch, which — judging by the steady stream of updates — seems entirely plausible.
