Dare You Not to Cry While Watching Stassi Schroeder and Brittany Cartwright Make This Fan’s Dream Proposal Come True
This Vanderpump Rules superfan reached out to one of the show's producers for a special request... and the result gave us all the feels.
There are so many Vanderpump Rules fans out there (like Dave Holmes and Adam Pally, for example) — and then there are the all-caps SUPERFANS.
This particular couple — Howard and Samantha — are definitely in the latter camp. In fact, the show is so important to them, that Howard hunted down one of the show's producers to help him with a very special (and unusual) request: He wanted to involve the cast in his planned proposal to his girlfriend of four years, Samantha.
Personal Space caught up with the show's co-executive producer Jeremiah Smith to learn how it all went down.
It turns out, this was actually the first time that Smith received a request this specific and thorough.
“I was just very struck by it," Smith said. "He literally compared Vanderpump Rules to modern day Shakespeare ... [and] the fact that Vanderpump Rules was so important to him and Samantha’s relationship that he wanted to center his marriage proposal around it, just inspired me to take his initial idea for a simple video from the cast to the next level.”
He knew immediately which cast members to pick: recently engaged Brittany and happy-in-love (at last) Stassi.
“I knew Stassi would appreciate the meta level of having a fan watching their favorite show and all of sudden the people on the TV are saying their names and talking about their relationship,” Smith explained. "The whole story was so adorable that I had the idea to make the video about the video so people could see how cute this couple was and see the cool thing Stassi and Brittany did for them.”
We weren't the only ones impressed by how well this turned out.
"Howard set up the cameras and pulled the thing off on his own. I was really impressed with how well he was able to capture the whole experience on video without Samantha finding out. The only hand I played ... was I sent him a wearable microphone that he hid under his clothes like a police wire."
