Can Luann de Lesseps and Dorinda Medley Ever Get Back to Where They Were?

Is there still a great big “Jovani” hanging between Luann de Lesseps and Dorinda Medley?

The Real Housewives of New York City one-time besties kicked off the new season in a silent standoff — revealing they hadn't spoken since last season ended and, now, they're still on a rather rocky road.

The two longtime friends used to be more like sisters, but had a falling out after throwing insults at each other at a dinner in Cartagena, Colombia... and things got worse from there.

During the RHONY Season 10 reunion, Dorinda said Luann’s cabaret act had her “confused between fame and infamy,” along with a few other unflattering things. (Luann wasn’t there because she had returned to rehab for a second time.)

Is there any hope they can get back to where they were?

“Sometimes friendships go up and down, especially long standing ones. When we are friends with people and carry a history with them, we sometimes rely on that history to be the backbone of the relationship,” said New York City-based therapist Liz Lasky.

Ultimately, Dorinda said the right thing, Lasky explained, which was "we need a minute.”

“She's not saying that she wants to erase their entire friendship. I think this is a smart move. Sometimes we all need a minute or a ‘time out’ to assess what we need in our friendships,” she added. “Friendships can trigger our old wounds and patterns from our own lives — being misunderstood, not being supported, feeling like an outsider. In this case, they are both hurt by each other. This makes sense since drinking has become a sensitive topic for both of them.”

So go ahead, take your minute. But we really do want to see these two make up.
