Lisa Hochstein and BF Jody Channel Justin and Britney In Matching Denim: "We Like to Dress Alike"
Lisa Hochstein and her boyfriend used one of the most famous celebrity couple looks of all time as their inspo on The Real Housewives of Miami, as they dressed "NSYNC" (in more ways than one!).
It's been more than two decades since Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's iconic matching denim look made headlines at the 2001 American Music Awards, but the pop stars are still inspiring couples everywhere, including The Real Housewives of Miami's Lisa Hochstein and her boyfriend, Jody Glidden.
Back in the day, Britney and Justin dressed head to toe in denim for the red carpet, with Britney in a long Kurt and Bart patchwork denim gown paired with a matching denim purse, and Justin wearing a denim light-wash Canadian tuxedo topped with a denim cowboy hat. Lisa and Jody had a fresh take on the memorable outfits, so you be the judge: who wore it better?
Jody and Lisa explain why they wore matching denim
Lisa and Jody decided to come dressed to impress to Larsa Pippen's welcome home party for her boyfriend, Marcus Jordan, in Episode 3 of RHOM. Larsa immediately noticed the couple were matched, and asked if it was planned, adding they were "NSYNC," as a joke about Justin Timberlake's former boy band.

"The dance comes later," Jody quipped.
The couple put a Miami spin on the memorable look, with Lisa instead wearing a short denim dress, with feathers around the shoulder sleeves and around the hem. Instead of a full-on denim tux, Jody wore a denim shirt with the top buttons open, showing off a bit of chest. He chose black pants instead of an entirely denim ensemble.
Lisa later explained the reasoning for the look as "we like to dress alike," which Larsa said she'd never seen before.
"Because Lenny never wanted to do it," Lisa responded of her estranged husband. "He thought it was weird."
Matching was the real theme of the party, as Marysol Patton and her husband, Steve, also arrived at the party in similar looks. Marysol wore a black dress and Steve wore a black shirt.
This prompted Larsa to ask why everyone was matching, to which Marysol replied, "Well, he [Steve] only has two colors he wears so it's not that hard for me to match him."
How did Britney and Justin come up with their iconic look?
The costume designer behind Justin's Canadian tuxedo, Steven Gerstein, revealed more about the look in an interview with People magazine.
"It was such a no-brainer," Gerstein told People. "Justin and Britney were dating at the time. We were in New Orleans when Britney and Justin were like, 'We're doing matching denim.' And I was like, 'How are you doing that? Who is doing that?' We wound up taking the Costume National suit that Justin wore for the [NSYNC] Celebrity album cover. We remade it in denim. Conversations with Levi's were happening at the same time, and Britney was working with Kurt and Bart. We had some crossover contacts at Levi's, so it went from being an idea to it being made within days."
Does Justin regret the fashion choice?
"You do a lot of things when you're young and in love," he said on NSYNC castmate Lance Bass' podcast in 2021, People reported, but he added, "You can kind of rock that one today."
Lisa and Jody certainly agree!
