Here's Why Kyle Richards Was "Very Taken Aback" After Being Spotted Without Her Wedding Ring
The RHOBH cast member opens up about a photo that caused a stir earlier this year and gives new details on her relationship with Mauricio Umansky.
During the Season 13 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards shared that she and Mauricio Umansky were going through a "challenging" time in their marriage. However, she explained in Episode 2, that wasn't the reason behind buzzed-about paparazzi photos in February that showed her without her wedding ring.
During the episode, which aired on November 1, Mauricio's mother, Estella, asked Kyle about rumored struggles in the longtime couple's relationship after seeing several online reports. "Generally I don't believe these things, but it's too much," Estella said. "Who started this?"
Kyle explained, "I was seen without my wedding ring, and people started the rumor." In an interview, she noted she was "very taken aback" by her mother-in-law's questions because that photo wasn't a completely accurate representation of what was going on in her life at the time.

"Yes, [Mauricio] and I have been having a hard time, but the picture of me without my ring has nothing to do with that," Kyle said in the episode interview. "I've still been wearing a wedding band, so why are people saying that because of one time when I was lifting weights before that?"
According to E! News, Kyle gave a similar explanation in a July Amazon Live. "I didn't have my ring on because I lift weights, and it will bend the ring, ruin the ring, and it hurts," she said. "So, I take the ring off when I'm lifting weights."

During the same episode, Kyle gave more details about the state of her marriage. "We've always been on the same page and in sync," she said. "Right now, it does not feel like we are in sync. It feels like lately that he is consumed with The Agency and his work. He's running this big company and opening all over the world."
On the October 25 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Kyle revealed that although she and Mauricio have continued to live together in their Encino home, they are currently sleeping in separate bedrooms.
"I let him stay in the primary bedroom because it's very, like, masculine, and the upstairs floor is like the glam — I can't stand that word — area, and there's like a bed," she said. "So I was like, 'You know what, what am I gonna do? Put him a little room with flowers and, you know, pink and velvet?' No." She quickly reconsidered, saying with a laugh, "I could."
