Why Did Scott Disick Trigger Outrage for This Photo with Daughter Penelope in an Asian Restaurant?
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians dad is in hot water over his latest Instagram post.
It all started out innocently enough. When Scott Disick brought his daughter, Penelope, out to dinner at an Asian restaurant, he posted a photo of the father-daughter outing. "Best first dinner date of 2019!" he wrote to caption the snap. Except... OK, brace yourselves. This is where things get heated.
In the photo, 6-year-old Penelope made a face by pulling up her eyelids. Now, to be fair, kids do tend to make goofy faces and there's usually not much ill intent behind it. But many of Disick's followers did feel squeamish about the appropriateness of the snap.
First, take a look at the Instagram post in question:
Now, hear the comments. "Why the F is his daughter doing that? Eating Asian food and being racist???" one follower wrote. Another had a similar sentiment: "Tell her to stop being racist," one commented. You get the drift.
Other followers were quick to defend the little one. For as many comments that questioned whether the little girl made a racist gesture, there were ones like this: "Do people not have better things to do than accuse a five year old of racism??" And this: "What a cute pic! Why do people have to put a negative spin on everything! This is a father with his daughter!"
