Michael Cohen Ate at a Posh NYC Restaurant Hours After Guilty Plea, Shocking Fellow Diners
While lawyer Michael Cohen's face plastered news around the country, he slipped into his favorite restaurant.
August 21, 2018 may go down as one of the most turbulent news days in history, as Donald Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort was convicted on eight counts of financial crimes and the president's former lawyer Michael Cohen pled guilty to campaign finance violations while implicating the president — almost simultaneously. While news teams scrambled — even sprinted — to cover the matters, one person seemed preternaturally relaxed in the face of it all.
That person, surprisingly, was Michael Cohen himself, who went to dinner at one of his favorite New York City restaurants, the posh Le Bilboquet on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
“It was definitely a shock when I saw him out after the big news,” a witness to the curious moment told Page Six, which reported the story. The source added that Cohen "honestly seemed pretty relaxed, surprisingly.”
Page Six's source claimed that Cohen spent most of his meal engrossed in his phone, but that, "He wasn’t trying to hide. He wasn’t cornered away in the back or anything — he was at the front, right when you walked in.”
Serving French bistro fare on East 60th Street between Madison and Park avenues, Le Bilboquet has been named a "Critic's Pick" restaurant by New York — and "the snobbiest restaurant in New York" by the New York Post.
