Wow! Meghan and Harry's Wedding Baker Just Showed Off the "Second Most Challenging Cake" She Ever Made
The towering confection was inspired by an artist known for his gravity-defying sculptures.
You might remember a certain elderberry-lemon cake that was served at a posh English wedding back in May. (Yep, this lovely thing.) But even after creating the cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding, baker Claire Ptak of Violet Bakery is still facing down new challenges made of sugar and icing. And one of her most recent cakes was so tricky to pull off, she couldn't resist sharing its photo and giving herself a sweet pat on the back.
On December 16, the baker posted an image of a gravity-defying cake that looked like some seven separate cakes — and cupcakes — all stacked on top of each of other ... and staying in place! In her caption, Ptak called the confection the "second most challenging cake of my career." (We're just making an educated guess that we know what the first one was.)
She also shared that the cake was designed for a wedding, and that the grooms challenged her to design something inspired by a Will Cotton sculpture. Hmm, could they have had this sculpture in mind? Or perhaps this one?
