Who Is Scheana Shay's First Husband, Mike Shay?

The past decade has brought many big changes for Scheana Shay, especially in the realm of romance.
As we countdown the days to the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 premiere, we’re taking a look back at the West Coast native's first marriage. Bravo fans were introduced to Scheana in 2013 when she was dating her high school-friend-turned-boyfriend, Mike Shay. The two eventually got engaged during the series’ sophomore season and tied the knot in 2014's Season 3.

As fans will recall, Scheana and Mike married on July 27, 2014 at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California, about a half hour outside Los Angeles. The Hummingbird Nest Ranch is a sprawling venue complete with palm trees, fountains, a lake, Spanish-style architecture and sits nestled in the mountains of Southern California.

For the event, Scheana wore what is now an iconic crop top wedding dress. Scheana stunned in the the two-piece look in a creamy hue with pearl detailing. It also was created by someone special in Scheana's life: her aunt designed the dress.
Although their wedding was nothing short of a fairytale, the couple quickly experienced heavy marital issues; so much so that they ultimately separated two years later and finalized their divorce in the spring of 2017.

While it seemed like Scheana and Mike were in the throes of newlywed bliss, the former admitted to putting on a happy front. Scheana previously revealed that the marriage took an unfortunate turn just several months after she walked down the aisle, when Mike's substance abuse issues came to light.
“There were a lot of things from the beginning of our marriage that kind of tainted the whole relationship,” Scheana said in a 2017 interview with E! News. “Three months in I found out he had a pill problem. Right before our one-year anniversary, I saw some inappropriate text messages. Then, fast forward to our second anniversary, and I’m just trying to pretend like everything’s fine, because in my mind, we’re married — for better or for worse.”
Mike Shay's Entertainment Career
During his time on Vanderpump Rules, Mike was pursuing a multi-pronged music career and labeled himself a rapper, producer, and DJ; however, it's unclear if he's still working in the industry, as his official SoundCloud page has not been updated in four years.
It's also worth noting that Mike has received several small-screen credits outside of Bravo, including a minor role on TMI Hollywood as well as a guest appearance on Reality Relapse.
Since exiting Vanderpump Rules in 2016, Mike has kept a relatively low profile. As pointed out by Distractify, he occasionally updates his private Instagram with photos of his family, specifically sweet moments with his nieces and nephews.
Does Scheana Shay still communicate with her ex-husband, Mike Shay?
During a 2020 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Scheana provided a quick update on Mike, saying he was the only ex she was “still in touch with.”
“Is he happy and in a good place?” Andy Cohen asked on the WWHL After Show.
“He is,” Scheana responded. “I mean, I think he’s still kind of finding himself, but he’s happy and he’s doing well.”
She also noted in an interview with Bravo Insider in 2021 that she contacted him when she shared that she was pregnant with her daughter, Summer Moon.
Scheana Shay marries Brock Davies: "2nd times a charm"
Scheana is now married to New Zealand native Brock Davies, with whom she shares a 2-year-old daughter, Summer Moon. The couple’s wedding was featured in Vanderpump Rules Season 10 and took place roughly a year after they held a secret ceremony.
“2nd times a charm,” Scheana captioned a teaser of the lavish destination wedding, which even included a nod to her first nuptials.
Fans will get a closer look at Scheana’s family life in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, which premieres Tuesday, January 30, at 8/7c on Bravo. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
