Racquel Chevremont admitted "there was a little bit of a scandal" when it came to her and her forensic neuropsychologist fiancée.
Big things are happening in a brand new season of The Real Housewives of New York City, especially for one new apple holder and her other half.
Art curator, fashion model, and RHONY newcomer Racquel Chevremont is one of the newest Housewives — along with Rebecca Minkoff — to join the cast for Season 15. Introduced to the others through fashion guru Jenna Lyons, Racquel is the second queer woman to join the cast, introducing her fiancée, Mel, to the rest of the gang.

Who, is Racquel Chevremont’s fiancée, Mel?
Racquel’s fiancée, Mel, is a forensic neuropsychologist who had a brief introduction in Season 15, Episode 1.
Racquel had headed to Jenna’s head-turning Soho apartment and joined the former J. Crew prez in her now-famous shoe closet. Nancy, the mother of Jenna’s girlfriend Cass Bird, also joined the women when Racquel touched on her and Mel’s relationship.
“Mel and I, we’ve been friends for over 12 years,” Racquel told producers. “We were very single when we got together, but there was a bit of a scandal. There were a few people that were not all that happy.”
Racquel said Mel had never before been with a man, and was still married to her ex when meeting Racquel's mother.
Racquel and Jenna share a bond in that they are both queer women, and both came out at around the same time in the early 2010s. At the time, Jenna and Racquel had previously been married to men, something Jenna called “a crazy story.”
Racquel cited Jenna as a huge support for her during her coming out journey.
“I met Jenna in 2012, just as she was in the middle of a divorce and coming out, and I was doing the same,” Racquel said in her confessional. “It almost validated what I was going through. I don’t know what I would have done if I had not met someone else who was going through the exact same thing.”
Racquel and Mel began seeing one another after Racquel and well-known visual artist Mickalene Thomas broke off their engagement in July 2022, according to People.The former flames were a power couple dubbed Deux Femmes Noires (Two Black Women) with much influence on N.Y.C.’s art scene, but ended things after 11 years together, reported Page Six.
“We ended our long-term personal relationship but remain committed to completing our current projects as Deux Femmes Noires,” Thomas stated in a joint release to the outlet.
Sources told Page Six that Racquel and Thomas had severed romantic ties two years earlier but remained partners in their profession.
Flash forward two years later, and it looks like Racquel is living her best life with Mel. Though little about Mel was revealed in the RHONY Season 15 season premiere, an Instagram photo from May 2024 showed Racquel, Mel, and Racquel’s two teen children (and their furry friends) enjoying a scrumptious meal out.
“I’m one lucky mom,” Racquel posted with a blue heart emoji.
Mel was also featured in an August 2024 montage by Racquel, in which Racquel stated: “Love and laughter are the two most important things to have in life.”
By the end of the episode, Mel was already enjoying being in the company of the other Housewives, including Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Sai De Silva.
