Captain Sandy Yawn Reveals Exactly What She Does During the Below Deck Med Crew's Nights Out
Hint: The Below Deck Med boss isn't just staying on the yacht.
Below Deck Mediterranean fans know that after every charter, the crew goes out to blow off some steam after what is usually a stressful, chaotic, and outrageous time catering to the guests' every need. And we've seen that these nights can get pretty wild with some major drama, romance, and even accidents.
However, we don't see Captain Sandy Yawn joining the rest of the yachties during their night out on the town. So, what does the Below Deck Med boss do when her crew is partying it up?
Captain Sandy recently revealed all on Twitter. "I get a lot of Qs asking what I do when crew go out on their nights off. I'm usually still working, exercising, getting rest or grabbing a meal with friends," she tweeted on September 9.
The tweet also included a meme featuring a photo of a sandwich with the words, "What I mean when I say I'm hittin the club."
Captain Sandy included the hashtags "sober is sexy," "ODAAT (one day at a time)," and "recovery posse" in her tweet, referencing her longtime journey with sobriety. In fact, Captain Sandy just celebrated being sober for more than three decades at the end of August.
She recently marked this major milestone in a post on Instagram that featured a photo of herself from 2011. "It’s been 32 years clean for me. From jails, institutions, car crashes, motorcycle accidents, hospitals, bankruptcy, heart attack [and] cancer. I felt like a hopeless human being, always in trouble, people turning away from me because I was so destructive," Captain Sandy reflected in the post. "The day finally came when I had my last drink and drug on August 29th 1989. My life today is beyond my wildest dreams."
Captain Sandy included the number for a hotline for those who are "suffering from addiction and want help." "God speed to you all. Today I have gratitude!" she concluded the post, along with several motivational hashtags that said "life is good," "don't give up," and "miracles happen," among others.
Captain Sandy previously opened up to The Daily Dish about maintaining her sobriety for all these years. "Of course it’s one day at a time," she shared. "And it’s also contingent on my own maintenance – if I am not fit mentally, physically, and spiritually then it means nothing."
She added that it has all been due to her being able to "keep doing the work and showing up for my life, which feels incredible." "It’s such an accomplishment to look back on my life and see how I used to be and where I am today," she said. "It’s a miracle."
