West Wilson Reveals the Two Big Reasons He Couldn't Commit to Ciara Miller

“This is going to sound like a sh-tty excuse,” the Summer House newbie confessed about his relationship hesitations.

By Cynthia Robinson

After Summer House Season 8 documented Ciara Miller and newcomer West Wilson's budding romance, fans seemed to be excited about a new potential couple entering the Bravoverse. However, the pair revealed on Part 1 of the reunion that they broke up in December 2023.

How to Watch

Recently, West reflected on his hesitation to commit to Ciara after they parsed out the details at the reunion. “This is going to sound like a sh-tty excuse,” West began on the June 13 episode of The Viall Files, after he was asked by host Nick Viall what he found "scary" about dating one person in a monogamous partnership.

“I think compromise scares me a little bit. Operating with only my interests feels safe," West shared, noting how different his life trajectory was compared to his parents' more "straightforward" path.

“Everything’s been straightforward [for my parents]. I’ve been fired, laid off, moved, f-cking done on a TV show,” West shared. “I’ve made massive life decisions only with my interest and not needing to put someone’s interests in play. [I didn’t] need to compromise.”

West continued to explain himself by sharing what he thought the "worst" reason was for his nervousness around commitment.

“This is what my parents say. What they think my trauma is,” he shared. “They think somehow when I was young, I developed this habit of trying to keep everyone happy. And not letting anyone get angry or upset and I’ve carried that into my 20s.”

The Missouri native added he also worried about the difficulty that comes with a relationship ending. “You’re either going to marry them or break up. And breakups make me so sad,” he stated on the podcast. “Once that part of the relationship happens, I tense up.”
