Video Recap: RHONY Are Back and So Is the Drama
From family feuds to fake legs to philandering exes, the Season 5 premiere had it all.
It's been quite some time since the world got their fill of the Real Housewives of New York City, and with the premiere episode of the fifth season last night, there were old grudges to rehash and new Housewives to meet. And just in case you missed it but still want to be able to chat with your co-workers and friends today about it, allow us to break it down in video form so you can see for yourself.
Ramona vs. LuAnn: Can't they all just get along? When it comes to Ramona Singer and LuAnn De Lessepps, not so much. The two have always butted heads and thanks to some she-said, she-said involving alleged threats to LuAnn's children, their beef is as tense as ever. Early on in the episode, LuAnn tries to confront Ramona at a party about things she said, and Ramona pulled the trusty old Housewives defense: This isn't the time or place.
The Brunch Blitzkreig: After not being able to fully unload on Ramona at the party, LuAnn crashes a brunch being had by the new Housewives Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher. LuAnn strolls in, unloads a major offensive on Ramona, who she claims called and threatened her children, and then leaves the restaurant just as quickly -- leaving the new 'Wives in a bit of a drama-filled daze.
Wine Woes: With all of the LuAnn tension, Ramona needs a drink. Pinot Grigio, of course. The only problem is, her husband bought some newfangled fancy high-tech bottle opener that nobody can figure out. If there's one rule with Ramona, it's don't get in between her and her Pinot.
She's Got Legs: What starts as a trip to the spa for some mani-pedi action quickly turns into a confessional for Aviva. When she was six, she was involved in a farm accident that resulted in part of her left leg being amputated. Sonja was quite curious about this as the two got their toes painted -- with Aviva carrying her spare prosthetic leg (one's flat and one's glossy, depending on the occasion) in a bag and getting those toes painted as well.
