Here’s Exactly What Led Up to Raquel Leviss and Tom Schwartz’s Makeout (UPDATED)

UPDATED (April 6, 10:37 A.M.): Schwartz appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen following the new episode of Vanderpump Rules, and after being asked if the kiss with Raquel was "worth it," he said, "The last time I did a little press tour, I said yes. But, you know, in hindsight, I don't think it was. I never wanted to hurt Katie." 

"I just felt like there had been such a big build-up," Schwartz later added, "and we did have chemistry."

He also revealed that had the Vanderpump Rules cameras not been rolling the first time Raquel asked him to make out, he would've said yes.

Tom Schwartz and Raquel Leviss' infamous makeout session finally saw the light of day on the April 4 episode of Vanderpump Rules. 

Word of the shared smooch has been spreading ever since it took place at Scheana Shay and Brock Davies' August wedding in Mexico, but what no one knew until Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules started playing out was that it had apparently been a long time coming — namely thanks to Scheana being determined to play matchmaker for Tom and Raquel.

Tom, for his part, was initially hesitant to get involved because he and Katie had agreed not to date anyone in their shared friend group, but we now know that all of that went out the window on the latest Vanderpump Rules. Read on to see how exactly the lip-lock came to be.

Tom and Katie's Not-So-Happy Anniversary Dinner

Both in Mexico — Tom for Scheana's wedding, and Katie for a last-minute girls trip after she decided to skip the wedding — the former couple got together in honor of their anniversary and to celebrate the fact that they had sold their house. However, the outing quickly turned sour after talk of their relationship issues came up, and Katie eventually stormed off while crying.

Tom's Failed Attempts at Flirting

After his reconciliation efforts went ignored by a still-upset Katie, Tom spent Brock's bachelorette outing trying to work up the nerve to talk to girls. "I've never been more scared in my whole life," he told Tom Sandoval, who was encouraging him to "start putting himself out there" in order to "get over his marriage faster." 

At one point later on, Schwartz thought he saw Raquel across the pool, and he started daydreaming from there. "I can't explain it," he said of his attraction to her. "She's beautiful."

Not long after that, Schwartz declared, "I'm gonna make out with so many people tonight."

The Cold Shoulder From Katie

Still determined to get Katie to forgive him, Schwartz popped out of Scheana's pre-wedding party and into the restaurant where Katie, Lala Kent, and Kristina Kelly were having dinner. Katie, however, wasn't having it — especially after Schwartz asked her to trim his armpit hair. This led to him concluding in a confessional, "Maybe I'm still too clingy. I feel like I need to create some separation between Katie and I, and I need to do some self-empowerment. It's time."

Scheana and Co. Encouraging the Makeout

Back at the party, Scheana asked Schwartz if he had plans to make out with anyone at the wedding, and Raquel immediately approached them. As Ariana Madix put it, "I [could] literally see Raquel's ears perk up at the sound of Schwartz saying he's gonna make out with someone."

Schwartz started to express that he was still upset over Katie, but Scheana insisted, "She's not your girl anymore ... She's not your Bubba anymore."

Sandoval, too, shut Schwartz's Katie talk down. "I don't want your ex-wife around, dude," he said. "No offense to her."

Tom's Decision

Raquel ultimately led Schwartz to a table, where he admitted, "I'm so annoyed by what people have done trying to coerce us into making out, I kinda just want to do it now."

As for his agreement with Katie? "I feel like I've been a really good divorcee. I've been super f--king sweet, supportive," Schwartz said in a confessional. "I don't think it's cool that she's imposing these semi-arbitrary restrictions on what I can and can't do."

Raquel's Decision

Arguing that Katie was the one to make her and Schwartz hooking up "a thing" in the first place, Raquel told him she "couldn't stop thinking" about the idea. Then, in a confessional, she revealed just how much she liked him before concluding, "My attraction for Schwartz definitely outweighs my desire to be friends with Katie."
