Oliver Saunders Opens Up on His Experience with Raquel Leviss
The son of RHOBH’s Garcelle Beauvais made a cameo earlier this season on Vanderpump Rules.
Oliver Saunders made his Vanderpump Rules debut earlier this season, and now he’s weighing in on the drama — particularly when it comes to Raquel Leviss.
Fans may recall that the 32-year-old, who’s a server at Lisa Vanderpump’s Las Vegas eatery, Vanderpump à Paris, met Raquel when she, Lisa, Lala Kent, Ariana Madix, Kristina Kelly, and Katie Maloney (as well as her mom) took a girls’ trip to Sin City. There, he piqued the interest of both Lala and Raquel, and he wound up making out with the latter during the group’s night out.
Looking back during a recent appearance on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, Oliver said of Raquel, “From all of our encounters — which weren’t many — she seemed like a sweetheart to me.”
That, and despite the current drama, “She’s living her life [and] everybody makes mistakes.”
“It’s crazy that so many people wanna try to crucify her for this or say this about her,” Oliver added. “And as if they’ve never made a mistake. Or they’ve never made the wrong choice before. It’s a human thing.”
He also doesn’t think that Raquel, or anybody for that matter, should be “judge[d] by just one action that’s happened.”
“You gotta give her a break,” Oliver concluded. “We all make mistakes and we just gotta roll on, you know? So that’s my two cents.”
Oliver’s mom, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Garcelle Beauvais, recently gave her own two cents on the drama as well. Specifically referencing Oliver and Raquel’s kiss, she joked to ET, “Oh my god. My damn kids.”
As for the larger issues playing out on Vanderpump Rules, Garcelle added, “When it became bigger than what Oliver did, I was like, ‘Whew. Thank god. It’s not about just him.’ I mean, listen, Oliver’s a grown-ass man. Do I agree with everything he does? Absolutely not. But I love him, and what are you gonna do?”
That’s not to say she eagerly tuned in to the episode of Vanderpump Rules in which Oliver made an appearance. In fact, she said she watched it “through her fingers.”
“You don’t want to see your kid make out,” Garcelle explained. “And it felt like it was the entire episode. Felt like it slowed down to a crawl. I couldn’t take it.”
Oliver apparently felt the same way, as Garcelle shared that he called her amid the aftermath of the make-out. “He was like, ‘I don’t think reality’s for me,’” Garcelle said. “And I go, ‘Good. It’s not.’”
