Lala Kent Shares Her Thoughts on Katie Maloney and Satchel
The Vanderpump Rules cast member also looked back on the beach day drama, which "The Don" had to endure.
Katie Maloney introduced both viewers and her group of friends to the man in her life at the time, Satchel Clendenin, on the April 19 episode of Vanderpump Rules. Now, Lala Kent is giving her take on the newcomer.
Talk of Katie and Satchel came up on the latest iteration of the Give Them Lala podcast when Lala was reflecting on her birthday party, which the two attended. "I loved Satchel, and I loved the way that he treated my friend," Lala shared, also describing him as "so sweet."
What wasn't sweet, she added, was the "rude" joke Scheana Shay made about his hair. "When you got thick hair like that, you gotta wait for it to dry out, [but] he was just trying to get to the party on time!" Lala said in defense of Satchel. "Don't blame him for his fabulous hair and it being freshly washed."
Scheana may have commented on Satchel's hair, but Katie's ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, took issue with something else when they met for the first time at the group's beach day. Granted, it was hypothetical. As Schwartz explained in a confessional, "I think I handled [meeting him] really well, but I think I had a little moment, and it just like flashed in front of me, where I see him waking up with Katie. And then [our dogs] Gordo and Butters are snuggling in there with them, and it just breaks my f--king heart. Have all the sex you want, that’s fine, but don’t bring the dogs in the bed."
Satchel ultimately became the least of his worries at the beach, though, as Schwartz found himself on the receiving end of a drink James Kennedy threw at him. And that was only one of the tiffs Schwartz got into that day.
Looking back at the madness of the outing — which Lala's then-love interest, Don Lopez a.k.a. "The Don" also attended — Lala said, "We expose[d] Satchel and The Don to chaos."
She didn't share details about how the two reacted to the drama, but she did reveal that The Don was "mortified" when reflecting on another Vanderpump Rules scene: the one right before they hooked up for the first time in Lake Havasu. Lala, however, "thought it was funny."
As for where the pair stands today, Lala noted in February that she wasn't seeing The Don anymore as she had removed him from “the roster.” Katie and Satchel also appear to no longer be together since she confirmed that she was single in December.
