Here’s What Happened When Ariana Madix Caught Tom Sandoval in a Lie

There was a lot of chatter about Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss on the May 3 episode of Vanderpump Rules, but one story in particular stood out to Ariana Madix. 

The story in question had to do with a party that Tom was at when Ariana got the heartbreaking news that her grandmother had passed away. As Lala Kent, who was also at the party, explained to Katie Maloney and Lisa Vanderpump, "Ariana was calling him, furious. He was like, 'Okay, I'll come home right now,' and he didn't leave for another two hours. And he was with Raquel all day long."

Fast-forward to another conversation about the same party, except now, Lala's talking about it with Ariana — who, much to Lala's surprise, reveals that she was under the impression that Tom only remained at the party because he "couldn't get a ride" since his left without him.  

"Don't you think he should've just gone at that time?" Lala said, referring to the time Jason, Tom's ride, left the party.

"I don't think he knew he left at the time," Ariana responded, prompting Lala to insist that wasn't the case. As she put it, "He did know because I was standing there."

Cue Ariana pulling Tom into the conversation and saying the following in an attempt to understand his decision: "Jason said he was leaving the party and then you said, 'No, I'm actually gonna stay'? You chose to stay longer?"

"I found out that my grandma died while you were there," Ariana added. "You knew about that, and Jason said, 'I'm gonna leave,' then you said 'I'm gonna stay'?"

Tom's response? "Well, yeah. I kinda figured that you wanted to be alone."

Ariana, however, pointed out that at the time, she had specifically asked why he couldn't come home. The two continued to go back and forth from there, but ultimately, Tom stopped countering once Ariana said, "You realize you put me in a position with this where people will think I'm a f--king idiot? Everyone thinks that you just wanted to hang out there for a few hours."

"That's definitely what I think," Lala chimed in, "because that's definitely what I saw."

Naturally, Ariana was hurt. As she explained in a confessional interview, "When my dad passed away 10 years ago, we weren't even together then. We were friends and he thought it was such a huge priority that he drop everything and be there for me. We've been together now for 8-and-a-half years, and somehow, somewhere, it feels like maybe he just doesn't think I'm as important anymore."

"I choose Tom over everyone," she continued. "I ride or die for you, so when I'm out here constantly singing your praises, I look like an idiot being Tom's number one stan when he's not mine."
