Scheana Shay Shares a Shocking Update on Her Friendship with Katie Maloney
After putting aside their feud during Ariana Madix’s breakup, Scheana revealed where she really stands with Katie today.
It’s all happening (again) when it comes to Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney’s friendship.
Throughout Vanderpump Rules’ 10-season run, the two OG cast members have gone through many ups and downs in their friendship, and on Season 10 of the Bravo series, the two feuded because Katie felt that Scheana wasn’t being sensitive to what she was going through in her divorce from Tom Schwartz.
However, the pair ultimately decided to put their differences aside when Ariana Madix broke up with Tom Sandoval at the end of the season.
Where do they stand today, though? Well, during a July 14 episode of her Scheananigans podcast, Scheana shared an update on where things stand between her and Katie now that Season 10 is over.
Are Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney friends after Season 10?
After agreeing to put their drama on hold while Ariana went through her breakup, Scheana and Katie actually reached a better place in their friendship on their own — thanks to some emo music.
Ariana, Scheana, and Katie were guest DJs at Emo Nite back in April, and the music collaboration proved to be a bonding moment for the latter two cast members. On her podcast, Scheana noted that the music event brought her and Katie “back together.”
“It is amazing how music and something like Emo Nite can just really reconnect people who had had a falling-out,” Scheana said to her guest, Vanderpump Rules alum Dayna Kathan. “I love that it was able to do all of that for us.”
Later in the episode, Scheana shared some insight on what her friendship with Katie looks like today.
“We are re-getting into being friends again, and just relearning where we are in life and what we need from a friendship and all of this. And we’re in a very great place,” she said before revealing what the pals did during their most recent hangout. “We had a little dinner date just the two of us the other night, Emo Nite, [and] everything. We’re having so much fun together.”
It’s still taking Scheana some time to get used to her newfound friendship status with Katie, though.
“But prior to that, you know, if I would text her and she didn’t respond right [away], I’m like, ‘Oh my god, wait, did I say something on a podcast? Is she upset with me? Wait, hold on,’” Scheana said about communicating with Katie. “And I’m like wracking my brain of why isn’t she [answering me] and I’m like, ‘No, she’s just bad at responding. It’s OK, it’s not just you… I get so many scenarios in my head of why isn’t she responding? She hates me. We’re not friends again. She’s mad at me, I did something.”
An Update on Scheana Shay’s Music Career
In early July, Scheana worked with the band The 27s to release an emo version of her original song “Good as Gold.” And it turns out she’s hoping to work with the group again in the future and to perform with them as well.
As Scheana explained on her podcast, “I am the first one to say I am not a great singer, but I can scream, I can rap, I can perform and put on a good show. We’re going to get back in the studio, and that’s always been the dream. If I can be like a Gwen Stefani, Fergie [and] have all my boys behind me, how f-cking fun would that be?”
She’s also hoping that Ariana and Katie will be interested in deejaying with her again in the future.
“We just want to keep going. Now I’m like, ‘Do you guys want to actually take this seriously, make a DJ name for ourselves, maybe do some of the other cities?’” she said. “Because I just think that would be so fun.”
