Reza Farahan Reacts to Tommy Feight Tearing Up His Letter: "It Was Very Hurtful"
The Shahs of Sunset cast member reflects on his conflict with Mercedes "MJ" Javid's husband.
Following the events of last season, Reza Farahan and Mercedes "MJ" Javid have spent Season 9 of Shahs of Sunset working to rebuild their longtime friendship. While these two have been able to get back to a good place, Reza hasn't been able to successfully reconcile with MJ's husband, Tommy Feight. What's more, Tommy has said that he doesn't want Reza to meet his and MJ's son Shams amid their conflict.
In the Shahs of Sunset Season 9 finale, which aired on August 15, Reza made one final attempt to make amends with Tommy, writing a letter that he shared with MJ to pass along to her husband. "Tommy, all I have is regret. Keeping your son from me has been a death sentence," Reza wrote in his message to Tommy. "I need you now the way you needed me then. If I get the opportunity, I'll show you."
MJ later handed Reza's letter to Tommy at the end of the episode. However, he declined to read the note and even tore it up, even as MJ encouraged him to read it. "No, I don't care. He had ample time to say the right thing or attempt to do the right thing, and he never did," Tommy told his wife. "I don't need it now. I'm good."
Tommy then provided some insight into how he may be able to move forward with Reza in the future. "I'll get to a time that I'll be in the same room with him, but don't ever think for a second it's gonna be because [I've] somehow seen the light and realized, 'Oh, he probably just had a bad day,' you know what I mean?" he said. "Please."
Reza shared his reaction to that moment during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on August 15. "It was very hurtful. I put a lot of thought and time into that card," he said. "And I have to appreciate where he is. I'm not there. It's hurtful, but I've moved on."
Reza appeared to reflect more on the last two years in a tweet as the Shahs of Sunset Season 9 finale came to a close. "I’m not my mistakes. I’m so sorry for what I said, did [and] didn’t do - I wish I could change the past. I can’t live in purgatory any longer," he shared. "I’ve been working on myself mentally [and] physically for the last 2 years. I’ve put the work in. I’m looking into the future now."
During MJ's visit to the Clubhouse in July, she answered one fan's question asking "what would have to happen for Tommy to be OK with Reza meeting Shams." "So to say what would it take from Tommy is definitely a question that only Tommy can answer," MJ said. "But every day, our relationships are getting stronger and moving forward in a better direction, so I'm really hopeful. This is what prayer is for."
We'll catch up more with Reza, MJ, and the rest of the Shahs of Sunset cast when the two-part Season 9 reunion kicks off on Sunday, August 22 at 9/8c. Get your first look, below.
