On Thursday, October 10, the Vanderpump Rules cast member provided a blast from the past with the most incredible throwback photo you’ll never unsee.
The image, which appeared to be a high school senior picture, showed Tom standing in a park while rocking a blue button-shirt, black pants, and frosted tips — the once-trendy hairstyle that typically involved a short, spiky ’do with bleached or lightened ends. It was a fad that dominated the late 1990s and early aughts, thanks in large part to the inescapable boy-band aesthetic.

Tom used the picture to promote his October 12 birthday party at Schwartz & Sandy’s, the Los Angeles bar/restaurant he co-owns with Tom Sandoval.
“GUYS my only birthday wish is for you to come jam out this Saturday night [at Schwartz & Sandy’s],” he captioned the post. “[T]hinking we can groove to some late 90’s early 00’s jams & drink some Mickey’s grenades. My actual bday is on the 16th but I won’t be here that day so gonna celebrate Saturday like it’s 1999.”
But Tom’s walk down memory lane wasn’t quite over. A day after the initial invitation post, he returned to the ‘Gram to share an older throwback from his childhood. The image, which also promoted his birthday bash, showed a little Tom with a bright, long-sleeve beach tee, a cropped haircut, and a stuffed animal in his arm.

Although he hasn’t frosted his tips for quite some time, Tom donned an arguably bolder hairstyle in 2023. As you probably recall, the Minnesota native ditched his signature brown color in favor of bleach-blond locks — a move that received mixed reactions from his castmates.
Brock Davies and James Kennedy agreed that Tom “pulled [the look] off,” but his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, wasn’t quite sold.
“He likes to do things to his hair, but the bleach was a treat for us all,” Katie quipped on the Vanderpump Rules After Show. “Also paired with the new outfit choices? .... That's a lot of terrycloth.”

Tom suggested he regretted the change once he saw himself on the small screen.
“There were times that I felt super sexy but when I see myself back on TV, I’m like, ‘Oh god,’” he said before revealing he dyes his hair even when he’s a brunette. “I only get grays down here (sides) a little bit. And, yeah, I will touch those babies up because I’m just not ready to have gray hairs until I have at least one kid.”
