Of Course Candiace Dillard's Mom Has Some Opinions on The Real Housewives of Potomac
The RHOP newcomer's mother Dorothy has "taken issue" with one aspect of the show.
There's been some major mama drama this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. Not only has Ashley Darby encountered some challenges in finding a new dynamic with her mom Sheila, but Candiace Dillard's mom Dorothy has also made quite the impression on the RHOP ladies and fans alike. That's namely for her seemingly strong presence in Candiace's life, including her financial support.
Candiace recently told The Daily Dish that her mom actually enjoys being the talk of the town on RHOP — well, most of the time. "My mom loves attention. She loves the spotlight. She loves being out and about and being seen and heard and observed, so she's loved that part of it," Candiace said. "She has sort of taken issue with the way that fans respond to her, calling her overbearing or saying that she's bossy or telling the truth, whatever."
The RHOP newcomer went on to say that this has "been an adjustment for both of us." "I think for her, it's sort of showing her that she can pull back some and she can start to trust me and trust my judgment," Candiace explained. "And for me, it's also shown me that I could maybe change the way that I approach reacting to her because at the end of the day, she comes from a good place. She's just being a mom."
She even playfully credited RHOP with helping her mom make "a little bit" of a positive change in how she interacts with Candiace now as she continues to plan her August wedding. "Before the show, my mom would just no holds barred give me whatever advice, boss me into a corner, because that's what she felt like doing. Now that she's sort of seen how she looks in over-talking and talking too much, she will give me advice in a more gentle way," Candiace said. "So instead of being like, 'Candiace, you need to wear a lace dress for your wedding,' she'll say, 'Well, Candiace, I'm just maybe suggesting that you look at other options,' so I can appreciate that."
