The Fashion Show Crowns an Ultimate Winner
An exclusive chat with TFS winner Jeffrey Williams.
Last night, The Fashion Show finally unspooled its Ultimate Collection, and its ultimate winner -- Jeffrey Williams. And in addition to the cash ($125,000, to be exact), Jeffrey told me he's also walking away from his winning run with a new creative spark.
"I know, for me, it gives you a little bit of energy, a little fire to like want to get things going, and want to be successful, and want to get people to know my name and know my clothing line," Jeffrey said.
Over the course of the show Jeffrey saw his style change to more sophisticated and glamorous (even Iman called out his first elf-ish outfit last night), and Jeffrey is pumped to see what's next.
"I feel like I've grown a lot on the show, just through all of those different experiences," Jeffrey said. "I'm just excited about my future. I'm just excited about the platform the show has given me and I'm excited to see where it takes me."
Before the finale, Jeffrey got the chance to head back to his hometown of Seattle and speak to some young students about his time on the show.
"It was literally a life changing experience," Jeffrey said. "I got to talk to little kindergarteners and seventh grade and eighth graders, and kids were like crying and teachers were crying. And all I was doing was being there letting them know that I was from Seattle, and I had a dream and that I'm going with it. It was powerful to be able to see that I had a voice that people wanted to hear. And I could have done that all day long." Emotional? Yes. Cheesy? Maybe. But Jeffrey assured us he meant it.
"It sounds like Miss America, but it's really true," he said. "I've always wanted to inspire people, and I've always wanted to be inspired by people in the process."
While Jeffrey hasn't let us know exactly what he's doing next (he said his plans for the upcoming NY Fashion week are still in the works), Iman did spill the beans on what might be in his future.
In her blog this week, Iman mentioned that after the Elemental Fashion challenge judged by Gilles Mendes of J.Mendel, he was offered an apprenticeship at the company.
While Dominique Pearl David didn't have the pleasure of surprising her family with a win, she did manage to treat them to a different surprise. Dominique flew in Monday night to arrive in California in time to watch the finale with them at home. "Don't blog this yet, but I'm surprising my family in California," she pleaded. As you wish.
