Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Reflects on Her Drama with Denise Richards
The RHOBH cast member discussed the comments about her father, as well as why she didn't address the rumors privately with Denise.
The comments Brandi Glanville made on the July 22 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have continued to have an effect on the group throughout their trip to Rome. Following the August 12 episode, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave addressed the drama on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home.
“Have you ever felt like you wanted to get out of your father’s shadow, like Denise [Richards] allegedly said to Brandi?” Andy asked Teddi in the clip, above.
“You know what? I haven’t. I”m really proud of my dad. I love him, and he’s done amazing things,” answered Teddi. “And I don’t think I’m in his shadow. I think he’s proud of me as well.”
Teddi went on to explain that her father, John Mellencamp, can be pretty shady. When asked to reveal the “shadiest thing” he has ever said about one of her RHOBH friends, Teddi revealed, “I mean, he’s so shady! He’s shady to me every single time. He’s like, ‘How could you ever say that I’m embarrassing, when these are the things you’re doing? I can’t with you!’ Every week it’s a complete rundown.”
Andy continued the conversation in the video below, asking Teddi to share her reaction to Denise saying she has “actually said a lot worse” about her during her confessional interview.
“I knew it!” said Teddi. “It was like, just be honest, be straightforward. It wasn’t a shock to me. I was like, thank you for proving my point, the know-it-all was right again.”
Teddi also clarified why she chose to describe the allegations against Denise as “really bad” when the women were all at dinner together.
“It wasn’t because it was a woman, it’s because it was an affair that we were told on camera, and that was the part you hate having to talk about, but it was already out there,” she explained.
Additionally, Teddi said she did not address the rumors with Denise privately, because “in this group, even if you say something privately, it becomes a group conversation, anyway. So we can pretend that it’s gonna be just between one other person, but it never is.”
“It was brought up on camera,” added Kyle Richards. “Once it’s on camera, there’s nothing we can do about it. It’s out there.”
