James Kennedy Just Popped Up on *Another* Bravo Show to Dish Out Career Advice
Find out why Southern Hospitality cast member Maddi Reese asked the former SURver for career advice.
Maddi Reese is ready to take her career to the next level.
As Bravo fans know, Maddi takes on many roles on Southern Hospitality. Not only is she a club manager at Republic Garden & Lounge and on occasion, a server, but she is also an aspiring DJ with ambitions of making a name for herself in the music industry.
In fact, on Season 2, Episode 5 of Southern Hospitality, which aired on January 11, Maddi opened up about her love of mixing records, and we got to see her put her DJ skills to use when she performed an opening set for Vanderpump Rules’ James Kennedy.
Read on for details.
Maddi Reese explains why she likes to DJ
At an employee meeting, Maddi told Republic’s CEO, Lea, that she couldn’t work one of her shifts because she got the opportunity to open for James at a club. And while Lea wasn’t thrilled about being short-staffed, Maddi made it clear that she wouldn't be passing up on the gig.
“My dream is to become a big-time DJ… so, to open for James Kennedy, a killer DJ from L.A. who has a huge following, like I’m one step closer to getting there,” Maddi said in a confessional interview.
The VIP manager then shared that even though she enjoys working at Republic, DJ'ing is what she’s really “passionate about.”
James Kennedy offers Maddi Reese advice about her DJ career
Later in the episode, right before Maddi took the stage, she met and connected with James. “How long have you been DJ’ing – what’s your story?” he asked.
During their chat, Maddi revealed to James that she wants to “fully dive” into her DJ career but struggles with balancing it with her job at Republic, saying, “I just like question... Can I have the DJ life and work in the club?”
To relieve Maddi's worries, James shared some words of wisdom by telling his guest DJ to find her “happy medium,” something he learned to do in his DJ career. He continued, “If they're both meant to work out, then that’s what will happen, but you definitely got to put 100 percent in and be fully dedicated to it.”
When it was time for Maddi to play her set, she was greeted by her friends Mikel Simmons, Mia Alario, and Lucía Peña, who all came out to support her.
Of course, Maddi killed it on stage, and the club attendees loved her playlist. So, how did Maddi describe her overall experience? Well, she noted it as being “chef’s kiss.”
