Scheana Shay Is Officially Divorced from Mike Shay
The #PumpRules SURver has finalized her divorce.
Scheana Shay and Mike Shay are officially divorced, The Daily Dish has confirmed. The former Vanderpump Rules couple announced their separation in November 2016 a little over two years after tying the knot in July 2014.
Viewers watched them wed in front of family and friends at their lavish wedding held at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California, which aired during Season 3. Following news of their separation, Scheana spoke to The Daily Dish in January shedding a bit of light into why the couple was going their separate ways.
“Shay and I did split amicably. We put out a joint statement. It just wasn't working anymore on either end," she said earlier this year. "We just decided instead of going for a legal separation or trying to continue therapy, we both agreed it wasn't right. And, you know, hopefully one day we can be friends. You never know what the future holds. But it just was a situation that needed to end before the holidays, before the new year."
She noted that the couple did try and work things out -- including going on a Hawaiian getaway in an attempt to rekindle their romance. "Right after that, we went on our own second honeymoon and tried to repair things, but it just never got better," Scheana explained. "We just never got that spark back."
In addition to being open about the split, during Season 4 of Vanderpump Rules they shared Mike’s substance abuse issues with viewers. A decision Scheana stands behind. "Even with his addiction and the substance abuse, thousands of people reached out to us via email, Twitter, or Instagram, just saying how inspiring it was that we spoke out about this on a public platform and how much we were able to help them and now they were seeking help and how they were able to come out to their family about their addiction problems. That made me be like, 100 percent, I know we did the right thing. I don't regret putting it out there."
Following the split, Scheana was romantically linked to actor, Robert Valletta. “So she's having fun and she's smiling again and that's all that matters,” pal, Kristen Doute, shared about the romance.
