Scheana Condemns Jax’s "Monstrous" Treatment of Brittany as The Valley Cast Defends Him
"I feel like there is a different, monstrous side of him that comes out," Scheana admitted on the Vanderpump Rules After Show.
Vanderpump Rules' Scheana Shay is going up to bat for her former costar and current cast member on The Valley Brittany Cartwright.
During the Vanderpump Rules After Show, the “Good as Gold” singer, sitting beside Kristen Doute, spoke her mind when it came to Jax Taylor’s growth since his SURving days. Though some, including James Kennedy and Danny Booko, commended Jax for his transition into adulthood, Scheana wasn’t as impressed, based on rumors she heard about how Jax treated his now-estranged wife.
“He may be a great dad to Cruz, but is he a good husband to Brittany?” Scheana wondered aloud.
Scheana Shay Criticizes Jax Taylor's Treatment of Brittany Cartwright
In the After Show, Scheana didn’t hold anything back as she spoke about Jax in his new season of life.
“With Jax, I feel like there is a different, monstrous side of him that comes out, and from what I heard from my friends on [The Valley], he said some very unkind things to Brittany, which I’m not OK with,” Scheana told producers.
Marital troubles between Jax and Brittany took center stage in the spinoff series, including how Jax snaps at Brittany in front of their family and friends and their lack of intimacy.
“It makes me think that he hasn’t changed, and he hasn’t grown,” Scheana continued.
Meanwhile, Scheana’s husband, Brock Davies, separately told producers he “couldn’t do too much conversation” with Jax because he never knew what would come out of his mouth.
James Kennedy Says Jax Taylor Has Changed
Sitting with Brock, James discussed what he observed from Jax since his transition between shows.
“I feel like everyone changes every year, and Jax [has] changed so much,” said the See You Next Tuesday D.J. “Look. I still feel like he likes to hang out with his boys and have a good time, but I think he’s a really good dad ... he’s got a lot of responsibilities, and he lives up to it.”

The Valley costars Danny, Jesse Lally, and Jason Caperna also described the changes they’d seen in Jax over the years. The men laughed as Danny recalled others criticizing him for hanging out with a person others referred to as a “D-bag” and the “worst person on the planet” who’s “cheated on every person.”
But for Danny, he’d seen the good in his close friend and said his experiences with Jax were the “complete opposite.”
“He was like, 'Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you,’” Danny told producers. “He got me involved in the dad groups and the golf groups.”
Janet Caperna, sitting with Michelle Saniei Lally and Nia Booko, also commended Jax for how he fathers his and Brittany’s 3-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
“The biggest change I’ve seen in him is just seeing him nurture a child [which] is kind of wild when you’ve seen the early episodes of Vanderpump,” said Janet.
Michelle and Nia agreed that Jax was “very hands-on” with the toddler whenever they visited the home.
Has Brittany seen changes in Jax?
Brittany told producers that Jax — from whom she separated shortly before The Valley premiered — had at least partially changed for the better.
“Jax has definitely changed in a lot of ways, especially being a father,” said Brittany. “But he’s still Jax.”
Lala Kent asked Brittany if she was “worried about going through the ups and downs” in light of her separation, and Brittany admitted she was concerned about what Jax would say now that she wasn’t around to “correct him.”
“But I do think Jax has grown in a lot of ways, but he’s still Jax Taylor,” Brittany reiterated.
