Can the Million Dollar Listing New York Agents Bury the Hatchet After Deal Drama?
#MDLNY's Ryan Serhant weighs in on clashing with his fellow brokers.
Throughout the course of Million Dollar Listing New York's five seasons, the agents have definitely clashed over the many high-profile real estate deals. And Season 5 has been no different for Ryan Serhant, Fredrik Eklund, and Luis D. Ortiz. In fact, Ryan's fiancee, Emilia Bechrakis, has even had to step in when Ryan and Luis couldn't see eye-to-eye while attempting to co-list. It hasn't been much smoother sailing for Ryan and Fredrik either (well, for example). So when the guys walk away from a major disagreement, are they able to resolve the drama?
"It's hard. Especially then when we watch the show and see what everyone said during interviews. It's always weird. I think I try my best to really separate what's the drama that is caught in those few minutes compared to the overall life that I have with these guys," Ryan told The Daily Dish. "But it is hard. It's a super competitive business. I think that's why people enjoy watching the three of us because everything you're watching is very real. As embarrassing as some of it may be, this is my life."
However, that doesn't mean there are fireworks if and when the guys see each other around town. "It's cordial. I don't really see them all the time. I have my own business, my own company, and I run around the city all day every day," Ryan explained. "So when we see each other, we hang out and we get excited about the ratings and we get sad about bad ones, but that's really the extent of it. We're not, like, having tea together."
There was one instance this season where Ryan felt particularly moved to defend himself after Fredrik and Luis accused him of buying likes on social media, as you can see in the clip above.
"If it were true, I probably would have had a heart attack, but I was like, 'What is this?' Like if you can't think of anything negative to say about me, to the point where you have to start making up weird stuff, I felt bad for the people who do follow me because compared to Fredrik, I don't have that many [followers]," he said. "It was weird to be honest. So I wrote something. I don't have time to write blogs for every single episode. I think I'm pretty honest in the episodes, so when I do write the blogs they're important for a reason. And for that one I said, 'You know what? They talk about me behind my back and there's no scene in the show that allows me to respond.' I wrote about it and posted on social media to all of my real people. So that's it. I know what I signed up for; it's reality TV. I know that there are going to be punches, so you got to stand up or sit down."
We're sure that Ryan is also able to relieve all that stress during his intense workout routine. Take a look at what goes into his training sessions, below.
