Luann and Sonja Share Their RHUGT Predictions: “It’s Not Going to Be Smooth Sailing”
The former New York Housewives said there was "a lot of personality" in one house while filming RHONY Legacy in St. Barts.
Production is underway for Season 5 of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, and some of the former New York Housewives are teasing us with what fans can expect.
Fan favorites Luann De Lesseps and Sonja Morgan of The Real Housewives of New York City spoke about the fifth installment of RHUGT – dubbed RHONY Legacy — featuring previous RHONY ‘Wives as they head to St. Barts.
RHONY Legacy brings Luann, Sonja, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman back together on the screen after an all-new cast was announced for RHONY Season 14. Glimpses of the women’s time at St. Bart’s — a place familiar to the RHONY Season 5 cast — are steadily making their way to this surface, including in a TikTok video showing the women’s best dance moves and bikinis.

Luann and Sonja on RHUGT: RHONY Legacy
Speaking with The Daily Dish, the Crappie Lake stars were asked if those anticipating a Legacy-style show, featuring the former RHONY cast members could expect, a peaceful reunion.
“I don’t think it’s going to be smooth sailing,” Luann confessed. “It’s a little complicated, you know?”
Sonja chimed in, saying, “With pain comes growth,” adding that the women share a “trust level" after all these years.
“I mean, I can look at Ramona and say, ‘Your face looks like a pizza without cheese,’ and she’s not mad,” said Sonja. “She’s, like, taking her mirror out, ‘What are you talking about? Really?’ You know? So, we can be like that with each other, and it can be painful, but then growth comes.”
Luann added that “a lot of personality” exists with each of the six ladies for RHONY Legacy, which makes for some complicated dynamics. “I feel like when you have that many personalities in one house, there tends to be something [that] doesn’t always go right,” Luann told The Daily Dish.
“Not just us, every girl group when they go on trips,” Sonja added. “You know, sh-t happens.”
Which of the Former RHONY 'Wives Will Get the Best Room?
Devoted RHONY fans know all too well that the struggle is real when it comes time for the cast to pick out their sleeping quarters. Whether it’s Ramona and Sonja fighting for the best room in Turks and Caicos in RHONY Season 7 or Ramona getting dibs to the suite while the ladies were in Mexico in RHONY Season 9. Plus, there was that time Luann got the fish room at Dorinda’s Blue Stone Manor in the Berkshires in Season 11 and later getting the lower-level suite at Ramona’s Hamptons home in Season 12, both of which were memorable bedroom battles.
So, what about their trip to St. Barts for RHONY Legacy?
“That’s always the drama,” Luann told The Daily Dish. “That’s where the drama always starts.”
Luann and Sonja touched on possibly sharing a room with Ramona. Sonja said she and Ramona typically share rooms where they can have a bathtub.
“You have gas,” Luann joked as the reason they haven't been roomies.
“She [Ramona] doesn’t mind, she can’t smell sh-t. Literally,” said Sonja. “I like to share with Ramona ‘cause we both like to get a bigger room, be together, and have a bathtub, and there’s usually only one bathtub in a house.”
Luann, who prefers showers, said the ocean was her bathtub.
“It’s St. Barts in the Caribbean,” Luann continued. “Who wants to take a bath?”
Life After the RHONY Reboot
RHONY Season 14 features an all-new cast, including Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Sai de Silva, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank. In light of the changes, fans have long wondered about a Legacy-style series for the O.G. ‘Wives, which was remedied by news of RHONY Legacy.
Sonja told The Daily Dish that, like the fans, she too was “excited” about the chance to reunite with the former cast members.
“They [fans] haven’t seen us in two years,” said Sonja. “I wanna refresh their memory of who we are, what we have together, what we have to share, how we can inspire, and how we can crack them up and [have them] say, ‘At least I’m not living like any of those crazy girls.’”
Where can I watch RHUGT Season 5?
So far, no date has been set for RHUGT: RHONY Legacy, but audiences can catch up on the first three seasons of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip on Peacock. RHUGT Season 4 is expected to premiere later this year.
