Dolores Catania Reflects on Her Split From David Principe: “He Was Very Shocked”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member also reveals "the only person" she had told about the breakup.
Dolores Catania is opening up about the latest developments in her love life. The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member recently revealed a major update regarding her relationship with David Principe, with whom she had been dating exclusively for several years, during the RHONJ February 15 episode.
The subject of Dolores' relationship with David came up when the ladies got together at Jackie Goldschneider's keg party. Margaret Josephs took a moment to ask Dolores how things were going with David, to which she replied, “David and I aren’t together.” After Melissa Gorga further inquired about the timing of the breakup, Dolores responded that it was recent: “Like, yesterday.”
Dolores also mentioned during an interview in the episode that her ex-husband, Frank Catania, was “the only person” she had initially told about her breakup with David. “He’s married to his job," she had told Frank, referencing David's busy schedule as a doctor, going on to add, "Since [David]’s smart enough to know he can change, and I’m smart enough to know that I want a little more, it’s not something that’s sustainable."
Dolores went on to share her concerns around the fact that her David were not married. "Yes, you bought me a house. Yes, you gave me a car for my 50th [birthday]," she said in an interview during the episode. "But what if tomorrow something happens and there needs to be a life-changing decision. Who am I?"
Back at Jackie's party, Dolores opened up more to the 'Wives about the split from David, and about her solo move into her new townhouse. “I’m supposed to be your partner in things, but he didn’t bring me into his life. Like, I moved into that townhouse by myself and I said, ‘Dave, please don’t let it go to this,’" Dolores told the ladies, adding, "I didn’t have much of a choice anymore.”
After Margaret asked how David was handling the split, Dolores revealed, “He was very shocked.”
Though Dolores shared how hurt she was following the breakup, fellow Jersey Housewife, Teresa Giudice, had recently confirmed during her February 1 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that Dolores had a new special someone in her life. And Dolores was definitely all smiles in her recent Instagram post from Valentine's Day, as she went "grid official" with her new beau.
"Oh it looks like he found 'real love'," Dolores wrote in the caption of her February 14 post, alongside a sweet picture of her with her boyfriend. She went on to add, "Together is better always. Stay tuned."
