Lisa Hochstein Opens Up About Husband Lenny's Emotional Affair: "This Is a Topic I Don't Love to Address"
The RHOM cast member recalls a difficult time in her marriage when she and her husband were briefly separated.
It's been more than eight years since we last saw Lisa Hochstein on our screens in Season 3 of The Real Housewives of Miami. So, of course, she had a lot to catch us up on in the current Season 4 now streaming exclusively on Peacock.
In addition to welcoming two children (son Logan, 6, and daughter Elle, 2) and completing construction on her "Barbie Dreamhouse," Lisa also revealed in the RHOM Season 4 premiere that she and her husband, Dr. Lenny Hochstein, had gone through some challenges over the past few years. "One of the reasons that we got married was to, you know, make this family we dreamed of, and, you know, things didn't go as planned," Lisa shared in an interview during the episode, referencing her and Lenny's struggle to start a family, a journey that RHOM had previously documented. "Because we weren't succeeding at having a family, yeah, we almost got a divorce, and it was devastating."
Lisa went on to share that Lenny had an "emotional affair" during their separation. "But Lenny does not give up easily at all. So when he saw that I was serious, and I was done, he came groveling back," she said. "He came back, and it was the best decision of his life."
Lisa opened up more about this time in her marriage during her appearance with the rest of the RHOM cast on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on January 4. During a segment called "Giving Me Wife!," Andy Cohen asked Lisa, "If you ran into the woman Lenny had an emotional affair with, what would you say to her?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all," Lisa replied. "So irrelevant. Like, I wouldn't say a word."
She later shared how she found out about Lenny's emotional affair during the WWHL After Show. "This is a topic I don't love to address, obviously, because I don't want to give it any more power than it already has," Lisa said in the above clip. "We were already separated. We were going through a difficult time trying to have children. It wasn't happening. So we were separating just because we were having a really hard time, you know, conceiving a child. So then he strayed. And I found out because I was very crafty, and I have all of his passwords, you know? And so, I saw some things. But we were separated, so yeah, that's how I found out."
In the RHOM Season 4 premiere, Lenny told his wife that, after going through this difficult time in their relationship, "Things have never been better. I mean, things are great with us, our kids are great."
Lisa agreed, telling her husband, "We've been through rough times, and I'm happy to hear that right now, like, I feel like we're in a pretty good place."
Lisa later explained in the second episode of this season of RHOM that she was ultimately able to forgive Lenny "because I take my vows very seriously." "So, [we] went through therapy, and now, here we are, living my best life with the man of my dreams for 14 years with my two beautiful children," Lisa added, before gesturing a mic drop. "Bye."
The Hochsteins are definitely stronger than ever these days, as evidenced by all the lovely photos Lisa has shared on Instagram of herself and Lenny, who celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary in October, along with their family over the past few months. Many of the posts feature heart emojis in the captions, including one in which Lisa simply writes, "Family first."
New episodes of RHOM are available on Thursdays exclusively on Peacock, where fans can also catch up on Seasons 1 through 3.
