Is Alexia Nepola Close to Herman Echevarria's Kids?

These days Alexia Nepola may be happily married to Todd Nepola, but when The Real Housewives of Miami fans met her all those years ago, she was introduced to us as Alexia Echevarria, wife of Herman Echevarria. A lot has changed for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip cast member over the years.

In 2016, Herman passed away shortly after he and Alexia had ended their marriage. Alexia's marriage to Herman was her second, as she was previously married to Peter Rosello, with whom she has two kids, Peter and Frankie. When The Daily Dish spoke to Alexia several months back, she opened up about where she stands with Herman's kids following his passing, if she's close to her first husband, and, of course, what it's been like since changing her last name after marrying Todd in late 2021.

Alexia Reveals If She's Close to Herman Echevarria's Kids Today

Herman not only was a stepdad to Peter and Frankie during his marriage to Alexia, but he was also a dad to his own kids, Herman Jr. and Nelson. As it turns out, in the years since Herman's passing, Alexia hasn't remained close to them.

"No. Unfortunately, I'm not, I think that Herman was also a big part of keeping his family together, and unfortunately, he's no longer around, so that can['t] happen. Because you know, I feel like that's what everybody wants, right? Especially the people that are older and wiser and all the [family members who] no longer here." She added that it feels like late family members are "watching us from Heaven. It's kind of like, they want [to tell] us, 'Why are you guys wasting time? Life is too short. Like each other and love each other and appreciate everything you have.'".

While Alexia has found love again, she and her ex-husband, Peter, remain close and he's active in their sons' lives. "I'm friendly with him. We're on very good terms. He's such a great father, and he's so good to Frankie and to Peter. My kids adore him. They spend a lot of time with him. Like I said, he gives them what I can't give them, and I give my kids what he can't give them," she explained. "He can hang out with Todd. We all get along."

Alexia and Todd celebrated their one year wedding anniversary back in December and when The Daily Dish spoke to her around that time, she admitted she was still getting used to her new last name.

"I'm still adjusting. It's a work in progress because Echevarria was such a strong name," she explained. "And everybody knew me from that, and even they still do it. It was, like, a joke every time when we traveled. I had Rosello, Echevarria, now Nepola. But at the end, I'm still a Figueredo. That's my maiden name. That's really your name. That's in the blood, baby."
