Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Parker McCown Is Engaged to Ex-Girlfriend Kaiti
The deckhand rekindled the romance after resigning from the Parsifal III crew.
When Parker McCown disembarked the Parsifal III after resigning from his post as deckhand this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he wasn't quite sure what the future held. "I don't know what's next, but I'm gonna rekindle my love with the perfect girl for me and be the best Parker I can be," he said in the April 20 episode.
Parker was referring to his ex-girlfriend, Kaiti, with whom he had been on a break during this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. But Parker reconnected with Kaiti as the charter season went on, and she even agreed to meet up with him in Greece to go scuba diving.
We got to see Parker's reunion with Kaiti toward the end of the episode, which, in addition to scuba diving, included a ukulele-backed serenade from the deckhand, naturally. Parker also popped the question to Kaiti underwater, and she said yes! "Kaiti's the perfect girl for me because she loves me for being ridiculous, she parties hard with me, and she loves all people and the planet and nature and animals," Parker gushed in an interview during the episode. Check out his proposal in the video, above.
The Daily Dish caught up with Parker prior to the latest episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht airing, and he dished more on his romantic proposal to Kaiti. "She was teaching yoga in Thailand, and I flew her to Corfu," he shared. "And then the next day I took her scuba diving and proposed underwater."
Parker said that he and Kaiti stayed in Greece for a little while after that, traveling to other small, remote islands, before returning to the United States to see his family in Maryland. They then visited Vermont before heading to Colorado where they have been living on a 36-acre wooded ranch about an hour south of Denver. Parker said that he and Kaiti are planning on tying the knot in Colorado in late summer 2021.
At that time of our conversation, Parker said that he and Kaiti were planning on traveling somewhere with a warmer climate, such as California, Florida, or Hawaii, to get back to work on a boat. However, that was before the global shutdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
One of Parker's dreams is to own a catamaran with a recording studio on it. But thinking more long-term about his life with Kaiti, he said they are "slowly working towards a goal" of being able to teach kids about marine ecology and conservation aboard a catamaran, which he noted would be "a ways down" the line. "But I think getting back to the water and on a boat is another stepping stone," Parker said of his immediate plans. "And maybe another season [of yachting]. We’ll see."
