If you thought Paris Hilton's November wedding looked like an absolute blast, her aunt, Kyle Richards, is here to confirm that the weekend of celebrations was even more fun than you imagined.
"I mean, we came home from the wedding the other night, and we were up laughing, my daughters, my husband and me, 'til four o'clock in the morning Saturday night," Kyle told Bravo Insider in an exclusive interview over the phone the Monday after Paris' wedding weekend.
Paris said "I do" to Carter Reum on November 11 in a ceremony at the former Bel Air estate of her late grandfather, Barron Hilton. And though the nuptials were incredibly touching, Kyle also recalled that there was a lot of levity to the event.
"Oh, it was just so much fun. The first night was just beautiful and heartfelt. And fun and funny. Paris was just so, you know, perfectly herself during the ceremony and making little jokes, which was so sweet. People were laughing during the ceremony. So it wasn’t so serious every moment," Kyle shared during the conversation in which she and husband Mauricio Umansky also reflected on their marriage in honor of their recent cover story for The Knot Magazine's 25th Anniversary Issue, on newsstands now. "Carter was so emotional, and so that night was amazing."
Paris and Carter's wedding was only the beginning of a weekend full of festivities celebrating the couple. On November 12, the newlyweds threw a Neon Carnival-themed party at the Santa Monica Pier. "I was thinking, 'Well, I’ll just go for like an hour, that’s it.' No, we went the whole night, had the best time," Kyle said. "You know, we had family in from New York. And all the daughters there, my husband, we were just on the pier and having so much fun together on the rides, dancing together."
The weekend concluded on November 13 with an elegant reception at the Bel Air estate where the wedding was held. Kyle remembered it as "another beautiful night" that "was more relaxed" than Paris and Carter's wedding ceremony. "It was just dancing, and great food and fun. We would get up onstage, and Portia [Kyle and Mauricio's youngest daughter] was just dancing with Robin Antin, the creator of the Pussycat Dolls, and it was so much fun [laughs]," Kyle said. "All the singing and dancing. Just having the best time."
Mauricio agreed with Kyle during the same interview that "the fun and the dancing with the family was great" throughout the weekend. However, it was a more subdued moment that really left an impression on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband. "To me, one of the things that I love is the vow exchange that the two of them gave each other. They each wrote their own vows," Mauricio said. "They were very touching, sentimental. They were absolutely beautiful on both sides."
Mauricio added that he "can't wait to see it" on Paris in Love, now streaming exclusively on Peacock. The 13-part docuseries chronicles Paris and Carter's road to the altar, letting us in on a truly special time for this famous family.
And it's all the memories made with her loved ones that weekend that Kyle truly treasures. "During the ceremony, all the little kids were running around [laughs]. I was having to corral Nicky [Hilton Rotschild]'s kids... And then [my nephew Barron Hilton]’s little girl was running up and down [laughs] all over the place," Kyle shared. "But that’s the best part of those ceremonies, is seeing the kids, especially when you’re a family."
