Olivia Flowers Is Engaged to Boyfriend Alex Williams: "A Good Surprise"
Southern Charm's Olivia Flowers got engaged to her boyfriend of over a year in New York City.
Olivia Flowers is officially engaged to her boyfriend of a year-and-a-half, Alex Williams.
The Southern Charm-er and her Dallas-based fiancé announced the exciting news on October 3.
According to Alex, he began planning his proposal, which took place at the JW Marriott Essex House in New York City, when Olivia went off to the Big Apple for Fashion Week in September 2024. Alex made sure that Olivia's friends and her parents, Garry and Robin Flowers, were there when he popped the question.
"Olivia has such an incredible group of friends, from elementary school through to college, and she's very close with her parents, so I knew involving them somehow would mean a lot to her," Alex told PEOPLE. "I wanted her to feel all the love and the excitement in the world from the surprise of her loved ones. Her mom Robin had the idea to propose while the four of us would be in New York together, for the Project Lyme Gala Olivia was speaking at."
Alex asked Olivia's parents for permission before he got down on one knee, and then when all four of them were in New York for the aforementioned gala — where Olivia spoke in honor of her late brother, Conner Flowers — he popped the question.
How did Olivia Flowers' boyfriend propose?
Alex got Olivia to an outdoor area in their New York City suite by enlisting the help of her social media manager to tell her she was doing a photoshoot for the hotel.
"Next thing I know, Alex is getting grabbing a box out of his sports coat and dropping a knee... then I drop my phone," Olivia explained. "Alex said, 'Olivia Barbara Ellen Flowers. You're the girl of my dreams. Became the love of my life. And I’d like to ask will you marry me?'"
"Looking back now it's concerning just how many things I didn't pick up on, but it made for a good surprise," Olivia continued. "Or several surprises, I should say."
After Olivia said yes, the pair "opened bottles of champagne and Olivia's favorite wine and celebrated with everyone on the terrace."

Alex selected a four-carat diamond ring from Nicole Rose Jewerly. The main diamond sits on an 18k yellow gold band that is "classic, simple and elegant."

Olivia began dating Alex, who is 34 years old and works in finance, in May 2023. The pair met at a mutual friend's wedding.
"After arriving late to a wedding ([and] tripping up the church stairs) I was met by a handsome usher to take me to my seat," Olivia wrote on Instagram in honor of the couple's first anniversary. "Later, that same usher asked my date (my dad) if he could dance with me... A year later and we’re still dancing (and tripping up stairs). Cheers to stage 5 clinging."
