Nema Vand Explains Why the Meghan Markle Army "Came For" Him
The Shahs of Sunset cast member recalls the reaction he got after sharing anecdotes from high school about growing up with the Duchess.
In case you somehow missed this little tidbit about Nema Vand, the Shahs of Sunset cast member has previously opened up about going to high school with Meghan Markle. Yes, that Meghan Markle. But now he's revealing why he regrets ever mentioning it at all.
Nema opened up more about speaking about growing up with Meghan before she was a famous actress and the Duchess of Sussex in the July 25 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen after one fan wanted to know if he's tried to reach out to Meghan since she moved back to California.
According to the fan, Nema previously said that he has her phone number from when they went to high school together. "No [I have not tried to reconnect] because the Meghan Markle army came for me when I talked about it on my podcast [and other podcasts last year]. I had reporters showing up to my house," he said. "My friend, who I had mentioned had dated her, had reporters camping outside of his home for a week. I was getting death threats on Twitter."
"It was really bad, honestly," Nema recalled. He then spoke more about the reaction to his comments on WWHL, which you can check out, above.
Meghan grew up in Los Angeles and later found fame as an actress, most notably on the show Suits, before becoming a member of the British royal family when she married Prince Harry in 2018. She, along with Prince Harry and their son, Archie, moved back to the West Coast in 2020 and stepped away from roles as senior members of the royal family around that time.
This year has also been busy for the couple. Back in June, Meghan welcomed the couple's second child, a daughter named Lilibet. The happy addition to the family came amid reported drama with the royal family back in England following an interview the couple did with Oprah Winfrey. These days, however, the couple is not only keeping busy with two young kids but also with a slate of upcoming projects.
