The only problem (aside from that fact that Gael already has a boyfriend)? It's not Gael that Nathan's telling in the above preview for Episode 8, set to air July 22. Instead, the deckhand 'fesses up in a confessional interview.

Nathan, more specifically, makes the admission after he and Gael have a cheeky conversation about what to call their bond. "You're only a colleague," he jokes, prompting Gael to reply, "Ouch. I'm gonna pretend that didn't hurt."

The pair's banter continues as Nathan begins to open up in a confessional.

"I feel like Gael's just in her own head again. I don't blame her," he says, as the preview clip flashes back to Nathan and Gael's recent kiss. "I definitely do like her. I have a fancy for her."

"I find her attractive and I enjoy her company," Nathan adds. "[But] I want to give her a wee bit of space. I don't want to come on too hard. I want to be respectful."

Do Nathan Gallagher and Gael Cameron get together on Below Deck Med Season 9?

Nathan teased what's to come in his and Gael's relationship during a July 11 interview with The Daily Dish. As he put it, "You’re just gonna have to see what happens between me and Gael. But you can’t deny the connection we had.

"It was insane, and it was straight away," he continued. "Like what you see from the show, me and Gael’s connection was like that from the moment we met each other. And it just continues to grow the entire season. It was actually really nice."

Like Nathan said, stay tuned for more from him and Gael.
