Mike Shouhed and Paulina Ben-Cohen Are Engaged
The couple confirmed the big relationship news during the Shahs of Sunset Season 9 reunion.
Mike Shouhed shared a major update about his relationship with Paulina Ben-Cohen during the Shahs of Sunset Season 9 reunion. During Part 1, which aired on Sunday (August 22), the couple confirmed that they are engaged.
"I want to share something with you guys," he told the group while taking Paulina's hand to show off her ring. "We're engaged... And we wanted to share that with everybody today."
The news was met with reserved congrats from the cast, who had spent much of Season 9 in the midst of drama involving the couple. Soon after sharing the news, Mike opened up about the proposal.
"I actually asked her son his permission to marry his mommy, and I gave him the ring and we were in Hawaii, and I planned with the concierge where the most beautiful part of the beach was gonna be," he said, noting that it was her son who was the one who gave the proposal speech to the future Mrs. Shouhed.
How'd Paulina feel about the proposal? She called the moment "the most romantic" and "so cute."
Mike and Paulina confirmed they don't have plans for a prenup, which was a surprise to the cast who suggested that she might want to consider one. "I would not marry someone if I felt the need that I need to protect myself," Paulina said about why she doesn't have plans to get a prenup. "In my eyes, that's not a marriage. Then I'll just date someone."
Paulina also gushed about her future husband, saying, in part, during her appearance on the couches, "The love and the connection that we have with each other, like, I would not be able to live a day without him in my life. Like, honestly, I have told him before, I wouldn't live without him."
It was also shared during the reunion that they are not only engaged but also living together. "We bought a house in the 'burbs," Mike said elsewhere in the episode. "And we live together."
At the beginning of the August 22 episode, Paulina called Mike "the man of my dreams" while backstage with Andy Cohen and noted that she was at the reunion taping to clear up "misconceptions" about their relationship. In fact, Andy even predicted there might be an engagement before the night's end (we wonder if he's psychic!). After Andy suggested that, Mike's beaming smile backstage hinted at the news he was about to share with everyone.
In another backstage moment before the reunion officially started, Mike told Paulina, "I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
In fact, in a backstage interview with BravoTV.com (clip below), Reza Farahan was hoping to find out if Mike and Paulina are engaged after he was trying to do some detective work prompted by an Instagram post of the couple in which he thought he saw a ring and after he "heard through the Persian grapevine" some updates on the couple, like the fact that they are living together.
Kids are also on the brain for Mike. In a reunion tease first shared with Bravo Insider members, below, Mike confirmed that he has "baby fever," and when asked if Paulina, who has kids from a previous marriage, is pregnant, he simply responded with, "I wish."
