Ashley Darby Was Most Shocked by This Potomac Housewife's Reaction to Michael Darby's Sexual Assault Allegations
"It really told me who my real friends are," the RHOP mom shared.
The Real Housewives of Potomac ladies have had a lot of opinions this season on Michael Darby's sexual assault charge, which was ultimately dropped. But it was one Potomac Housewife's comments about the situation that really threw his wife, Ashley Darby, for a loop.
Ashley shared in The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 4 After Show that she was taken aback by Gizelle Byrant's questions about the allegations during their conversation at her restaurant, Oz, in last Sunday night's episode of RHOP. "I wasn't really surprised that Gizelle was now engaging with the news the way that she was. She is a pot-stirrer, and she has acknowledged that on multiple occasions. So I felt like this was just another instance of her just trying to put fuel on a fire, essentially. On a friendship level, that was really getting to me because I thought that Gizelle would be a little bit more empathetic," Ashley said. "She decided to just run with it, and totally go haywire. And it just shocked me. I was just so surprised. It caught me way off-guard."
Gizelle explained where she was coming from during the RHOP After Show. "Me being Ashley's friend, I don't want to see her be disrespected," she shared. "So I feel like all of Michael's antics are very disrespectful to Ashley."
She shared a similar sentiment during an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this season, explaining that her main issue was with how Michael handled the situation with Ashley. "I didn't feel like he protected Ashley. I, as a girlfriend to her, I really care about her, and I don't want to see her be in a situation in which her husband doesn't protect her," she said. "That's his first priority, and I don't think he did that."
Ashley said during the RHOP After Show that she has learned a lot about her fellow Potomac Housewives during this difficult time. "The way that all of this played out was so shocking, and it really told me who my real friends are," she said.
