Margaret Josephs Addresses Teresa Giudice’s Comments About Leaving Her Wedding Early
Teresa said if her RHONJ castmate was “supporting” Melissa Gorga, she “should have never came” to her and Luis Ruelas’ wedding.
Six months have passed since Teresa Giudice and Luis “Louie” Ruelas said “I do,” but the couple’s wedding continues to be a hot topic — and the latest conversation has to do with Margaret Josephs.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member attended the couple’s nuptials, but as Margaret later revealed to Page Six, she had made the conscious decision to leave early as a show of solidarity for Teresa’s brother, Joe Gorga, and her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, who were and continue to be on the outs with Teresa.
“I tried to do the best for all parties involved,” Margaret said in December. “I wanted to be supportive of Teresa, but Melissa and Joe weren’t there, and I’m so close with them, and I couldn’t dance the night away knowing my closest friends are not doing well.”
Now Teresa is weighing in on the admission. “If she was supporting Melissa, she should have never came at all,” Teresa said on the February 6 episode of E! News. “That’s what a true friend really does, not just try to come, of course, to not miss an epic wedding of the year for a photo op and then leave. Like, if you support your friend, she shouldn’t have came at all.”
Shortly after Teresa gave her take, Margaret responded to the new comments while appearing on the Two T’s in a Pod podcast. “I went there to celebrate her marriage,” she said on the February 13 episode. “I was very supportive of it. I gave her a generous gift… and she knew that I was very supportive of her marriage.”
Margaret then laid out the specifics of her attendance, explaining that she “stayed well through the cocktail hour.” And despite apparently “waiting, waiting, waiting,” Margaret said she ultimately left because she “knew there was some bittersweetness with Joe and Melissa.”
“Even as happy as I was for Teresa, it was also painful for her other family members,” Margaret added. “And I was just like, you know what? I’m just gonna go… For her to say I shouldn’t [have] been there, I’m not picking sides. Melissa and Joe didn’t want me to pick sides about it. I wasn’t picking sides with Teresa. I did the best I could.”
As for Teresa’s “photo op” comment, Margaret said she didn’t quite understand what she meant. “I don’t even know what photo op that even is,” she explained. “I think it would’ve been more press if I didn’t attend, and it would’ve been negative press, and I wasn’t ready to bring any negative press toward her wedding.”
