Kyle Viljoen Shares New Details About His "Wonderful Fiancé" at BravoCon 2023
The Below Deck Mediterranean "service queen" shared the romantic reason why he's so "happy" with his husband-to-be during a candid discussion at BravoCon 2023.
On November 5, otherwise known as Day 3 of BravoCon 2023, a crew of yachties took to the stage at Caesar's Forum in Las Vegas. For a panel discussion called "Below Deck Crew," cast members from several franchises came together — including moderator Kate Chastain and Below Deck Mediterranean's Kyle Viljoen. During the discussion, the former chief stew asked Kyle about his love life — and the audience was delighted.
"Kyle, you're recently engaged, congratulations," Kate said to the self-proclaimed "tea queen," who hit the stage in a puffy green jacket and voluminous curls. "Yeah, I am," Kyle proudly replied. "Where is my wonderful fiancé?" Having found his, ahem, first mate, Kyle pointed a finger into the crowd and declared: "Over there!"
Amid cheers from Bravo fans, the husband-to-be called himself "very, very lucky," and told his fiancé: "[I] love you, honey." Turning back to Kate, the South African native said: "It has been quite a journey, coming out to New York, transporting my whole life. But I'm so happy."
Kyle Vilijoen shares what drew him to his fiancé
When Kate asked Kyle about a former flame, whom she referred to as "charter guest Frank," Kyle smiled and gave an honest summation of the fling.
"Listen," he said, "Frank was a moment where it was cute because you're [in] the heat, you're tired, but when you actually get off the boat and realize how grounded something is, that's what I found in my future husband, was absolute ground."
Applause and a few well-deserved awws filled the Las Vegas ballroom.
Though his love story with Frank didn't stay afloat for long, Kyle met his current partner because of his relationship with Frank. While visiting the former charter guest in New York and realizing there wasn't a strong connection, "I went to my dating app, and I saw this profile pop up: Dr. Zachary Keith Riley," Kyle said in an interview on Season 8, Episode 3. "We've been dating ever since."
The yachtie later proposed to Zachary in Cape Town, South Africa, last November. “Zachary [and] I are officially engaged and to my universe, I want to thank you for loving me unconditionally, desirably and with full intent to be my forever and always,” Kyle wrote alongside photos of the proposal shared on Instagram.
He added: “We have walked a rocky but loving road, you have made my heart full and I found home in not materialistic things but in my soul you have your place!”
