Kyle Richards Explains Why She Unfollowed Bethenny Frankel on Instagram

Kyle Richards and Bethenny Frankel have been friends for many, many years, long before they were ever Real Housewives on opposite coasts. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member and The Real Housewives of New York City alum have known each other for decades. The two women have a deep history with one another and each others' families.

Given all of that backstory, when Kyle was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday (June 9), one fan wanted to know why she and the media personality-slash-mogul have since unfollowed each other on Instagram.

"She unfollowed me, and I was like, 'Well, why do I want to follow someone who doesn't follow me?' [who is], you know, a friend, so I just said 'OK, well, I don't need to keep up with her either, then,'" Kyle said.

However, Kyle was quick to note that while she's not following her friend's life updates on social media, they do still keep in touch IRL: "We still talk and text."

But that wasn't the end of the conversation around all things Instagram. Andy Cohen then offered up his policy when it comes to following the Real Housewives on the social media platform. "By the way, I don't follow any of the Housewives on Instagram because if I did, it would be like 50 more people to follow," he said, adding, "You have to follow all of them."

Kyle shared her take on his policy, saying, "You only want to follow some of us and not the others, and that would get you in trouble."

Andy agreed: "Exactly. It'd be bad!"

Andy may not follow the Housewives on Instagram, but he has been known to text with them every once in a while. "I think what people don't realize about me is that I really have a constant [conversation] going with the Housewives and very random Househusbands on my phone," he told The Daily Dish in 2016.
