With almost three decades of romance down, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have had one of Bravo's most enduring love stories — and it's still unfolding. The Season 13 trailer (which you can watch above) indicates their marriage is having problems that will be revealed this season.
Since meeting in 1994, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pair have gone on to raise four beautiful daughters, a number of pets, and multiple business empires. What's more, they're still very much in love (and have said so, time and time again).

Kyle Richards' First Marriage
Prior to meeting Mauricio, Kyle was married to Guraish Aldjufrie. They split in 1992 after welcoming a daughter, Farrah Brittany.
How did Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky meet?
The duo first locked eyes in 1994s, while they were both in their early twenties. "When I met Mauricio, he was a kid. And now he's a man," said Kyle during Season 7 Episode 11 of RHOBH.
According a 2021 interview with The Knot celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, the fateful meeting happened at a Los Angeles nightclub called Bar One. Kyle was divorced with a young daughter when the handsome Mauricio first wooed her.
"It's so funny to me because now our kids go there and we'll says 'well, that's actually where we met 27 years ago' — 27-plus!" she said. "He thought I was Demi Moore's sister — and I had actually been told that — so he worked up the courage to come over and say hello, thinking that I was her sister."
"He was just a sweet guy and he loved my daughter," she added. "And we like to do the same things. We share the same interests and have common goals, and I think that's what really drew us together. But the most important thing to me was how he was with my oldest daughter, Farrah."
Mauricio, on the other hand, said he was drawn to Kyle's "amazing soul."
"She's an amazing person. And quite honestly, the fact that she already had a daughter, it made dating a lot more important. I had to take it much more seriously because I was responsible for a woman with a daughter," he told The Knot. "I also got insight into the way that she was as a mom and how good of a mom she was. And that gave me insight into the future and what it would look like."
Mauricio Umansky proposed to Kyle Richards in 1994
The pair decided to take their relationship to the next level the very same year they met. According to the The Knot interview mentioned above, the proposal happened at Shutters restaurant in Santa Monica, where Mauricio hid a rosebud-shaped ring box in a bouquet. He also "proposed" to Farrah.
"I was just so happy and excited — it was a dream for me," Kyle said. "The moment we started dating, I just felt like he was the one."
Nevertheless, their journey to the aisle wasn't all roses.
"I felt intimidated going into Mauricio's family knowing they weren't pro-Kyle and Mauricio. Especially the grandparents," said Kyle during Season 12 Episode 15 of RHOBH. "I wasn't Jewish. I was divorced with a child, and an actress."
When did Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky get married?
Despite initial concerns from Mauricio's family, the pair told The Knot they decided to tie the knot at Bel-Air Country Club in a Jewish ceremony (Kyle converted while they were dating).
But before their original wedding date in April 1996, Kyle realized she was pregnant with her and Mauricio's first child together. Thus, the wedding was moved from to January 20, 1996.
Alexia Umansky was born in June 1996
The pair's daughter, Alexia, joined the family on June 18, 1996. These days, Alexia works with her dad at his real estate business, The Agency, and loves staying close to home.
Sophia Umansky was born in January 2000
The Richards-Umansky family became a foursome when Sophia was born on January 18, 2000. Now in her twenties, the second-youngest Umansky sister is a recent college graduate who works at The Agency.
Portia Umansky was born in March 2008
The youngest Umansky, Portia — who fans have watched grow up since RHOBH Season 1 — was born on March 8, 2008.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiered in October 2010
Though Kyle has had an impressive acting career, her family was first introduced to the world at large during Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
"When we first started, the more people would talk about how happy we were, the more people would try to come for us. It was shocking because we had never dealt with something like that," Kyle told The Knot in the aforementioned interview. "But now, after all these years on the show, people know us and know our relationship."
"I think the difficulties we've gone through on the show — and I know it sounds like a cliché — but it's made us stronger," she added. "And it's crazy to think you could say that about a reality show. But when you've been tested over time, you either cave and you lose, or you win and come out on top. And we definitely ended up being stronger from being tested."
But a psychic called their relationship into question
During a RHOBH Season 1 dinner party "from hell," psychic Allison Dubois told Kyle that Mauricio would "never emotionally fulfill" her. Kyle didn't take the prediction to heart.
Mauricio Umansky launched The Agency in September 2011
Mauricio's luxury real estate brokerage firm, The Agency, was founded in 2011. These days, the fast-growing company employs multiple Umansky daughters and boasts branches around the world.
RHOBH cast members brought up rumors that Mauricio Umansky cheated on Kyle Richards
During RHOBH Season 4 in 2013, both Lisa Vanderpump and Brandi Glanville brought up rumors that Mauricio had cheated.
"Why would you bring that up? You know that it's not true. You know how hurtful and painful it's been for my family and me," said Kyle of Brandi in an Episode 3 confessional.
Regardless of the chatter, the couple stood strong.
"We know what we have," Kyle said in the following episode.
Mauricio Umansky surprised Kyle Richards with anniversary gift on WWHL
In honor of their 20th anniversary in January 2016, Mauricio had host Andy Cohen present Kyle with a pair of diamond earrings during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
"He said he chose flawless diamonds for his flawless wife," Andy said.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky moved to Encino in 2017
Moving out of their iconic Bel-Air abode (which was eventually rented to RHOBH pal Sutton Stracke), the Richards-Umansky crew relocated to a jaw-dropping, 11,000-square-foot mansion in the Encino neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.
“We went into this house and I went, 'Oh my gosh.' I was completely blown away, because it's not like anything you would see in Los Angeles, normally. I just fell in love, and my husband did, too,” Kyle told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
When was the Umansky's Encino home burglarized?
While Kyle, Mauricio and their family were away on vacation in December 2017, their recently-purchased Encino home was burglarized. They lost more than $1 million in personal items.
"We were completely shocked. And it was just devastating. I'm very grateful that we're all OK," Kyle told The Daily Dish in January 2018, noting that "everything" — jewelry, watches, handbags, luggage, and even Kyle's passport — had been taken.
When did Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky buy their home in Aspen?
No strangers to a nice Colorado vacay, Kyle and Mauricio bought a home in Aspen in May 2019. The house was back on the market by June 2022 while the family got ready to move to a new (but nearby) home.
“Our family is growing [and] we simply need more space,” Kyle explained in an Instagram Story at the time, noting that they would "never" leave Aspen.

"It means so much, and it's something that we're both incredibly proud of," Kyle exclusively told Bravo Insider in November 2021 when discussing the milestone anniversary earlier that year. "And for me, it's one of my biggest accomplishments. I mean, I think it's refreshing, in this town to be married 25 years is a really big deal. And we're really proud to be good role models to our daughters."
Mauricio agreed.
"You know, to be quite honest, it feels easy and doesn't feel like it's been that long. So it's been great and beautiful. And, you know, I definitely intend to spend the rest of my life with her," he said. "So hopefully it'll be at least another 25 years, and maybe another 50."
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky separated but aren't divorcing
People reported that Kyle and Mauricio had separated in early July 2023. However, the couple quickly set the record straight about their future.
“In regards to the news that came out about us today… Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue,” the actress and real estate broker wrote in matching July 4 statements on Instagram. “However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part.”
“Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately," they continued. "While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative."
Just hours later, Mauricio shared photos taken with Kyle in Aspen, noting he'd had a "great" day with his family.
Kyle Richards on WWHL addressed separation from Mauricio Umansky
During an October 25 appearance on WWHL — seen at the top of this post — after the Season 13 premiere of RHOBH, Kyle admitted to Andy Cohen that she initiated the separation between her and Mauricio (who is currently a contestant on Dancing with the Stars). “It originated from me, I would say,” she said. “Yeah. It did.”
Kyle also revealed that her and Mauricio are still living under the same roof but are sleeping in different rooms.
“I let him stay in the primary bedroom because it’s very, like, masculine, and the upstairs floor is like the glam — I can’t stand that word — area, and there’s a bed,” she said. “So I was like, ‘You know what, what am I gonna do? Put him in a little room with flowers, and you know, pink and velvet? No.”
And her four daughters, she revealed, did not take the breakup, nor the “rumors and speculation” surrounding it well. “When the news first came out, it was really, really, devastating for the whole family,” she said. “I mean, our phones were blowing up, my kids were just crying and wouldn’t leave the house, and it was really, really difficult.”
But now the kids are doing much better and have become a support for Kyle. “They’re just amazing human beings, and thank God I have them through this,” Kyle told Andy.
RHOBH Cast Reactions to Kyle Richards, Mauricio Umansky's Separation
In the RHOBH Season 13 trailer, the cast is seen discussing the issues in Kyle and Mauricio's marriage.
"Holy sh-t," Garcelle Beauvais says when she learns about the couple's separation.
"I had no idea," Dorit Kemsley says while on a FaceTime with her husband, Paul "PK" Kemsley, who adds, "I had dinner with Mo. He never said they were separated."

"Complete strangers are like, 'You made us believe in true love and now it's all..." Kyle tells Erika Jayne.
Erika then notes, "It is true love. There are only two people in this marriage. Everybody else's opinion can f-ck off."
Tension with Mauricio Umansky over Kyle Richards' tattoos seen in RHOBH premiere
During the Season 13 premiere of RHOBH on October 25, Kyle explained in a confessional interview that the past year had not been easy on her and Mauricio due in part to their conflicting schedules.
“Mo and I have had a challenging year together,” she explained. “He has been working non-stop [and] I’ve been working. When you have to schedule a meeting to go over your schedule, you know it’s a problem.”
Tensions between the couple were further made clear when Mauricio and Kyle had a discussion about her tattoos, of which Mauricio only knew three out of five of them. “This is clearly a big symptom of not spending time together,” Kyle explained in a confessional. “Years ago, he would’ve noticed a freckle on my body. Now he doesn’t know that I have two more tattoos.”
Kyle Richards' workout routine helped her mental health
Mauricio did notice, however, that Kyle has been committed to her workout routine. “You look so good,” he told her during the RHOBH premiere. “You’re working out like a beast right now, you’re eating well, you’re not drinking. Like, you’re changing your life.”
In a confessional, Kyle explained that working out has been cathartic for her during this time. “When you go through painful times in your life, it changes you as a person,” she said. “My sister, feeling let down by my friends, feeling disconnected from my husband, you know, you have to find an outlet. I feel good about it and I hope Mo does too, because here I am.”

Since joining the cast of Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars, Mauricio has been spotted holding hands with his 34-year-old dance partner, Emma Slater. Kyle addressed the “rumors and speculation” surrounding these photos in her October 25 interview on WWHL. “I was taken aback, that was very hard to see,” Kyle told Andy, sharing that it had hurt her feelings. “I love him very much and we are amicable but that really did hurt me.”
“I mean, holding hands like that?,” she added. “I mean, Andy…I really don’t — why are you doing this to me? I just don’t think you hold hands like that. The thing is this: I don’t know if anything’s happened yet, but obviously there’s something there.”
Regardless of how she felt about the photos, Kyle admitted that she still voted for Mauricio and Emma to get through to the next round and be safe from elimination. “I even sent proof to the family chat,” she said. “I did my votes and I sent the screenshot to the chat.”
Kyle Richards discussed Mauricio Umansky at BravoCon 2023
Kyle spoke about her marriage to Mauricio during a panel featuring the RHOBH cast at BravoCon 2023 on November 5, revealing that her marital struggles being documented on RHOBH are “new” for her.
“We love each other very much, and we are family no matter what happens, and we have a very strong family unit,” she said.
Kyle added that she has been trying to stay strong for her daughters. “My three girls still live at home — only Farrah has her own place — so it’s still like, ‘Who’s going to be home for dinner tonight?’ on the family chat.”
She noted that Mauricio has not been around as much since he’s been so busy (he'd been competing on Dancing with the Stars until October 31) but they’re “just trying to figure it out.” “We know that we love each other.”
“I just want to say that a lot of people think, 'What are you doing, just pull it together,' and obviously that’s what I would want,” she added. “This is not my fairytale, clearly.”
Maurcio Umansky, Kyle Richards denied cheating rumors in Season 13
In RHOBH Season 13, Episode 6, fellow Housewives Sutton Stracke and Garcelle addressed cheating rumors when they noticed that Kyle was wearing a different ring than her wedding ring — which Garcelle dubbed a “make-up band.”
“When your husband messes up and you get a gift,” Garcelle elaborated. “They buy you something to forget what they did.”
Sutton, meanwhile, pressed Kyle on the rumors during the Season 13, Episode 6 dinner party.
Kyle discussed the awkward conversations with Mauricio in Season 13, Episode 8. “I don’t even know how the whole thing started,” Kyle told him. “There’s been a lot of rumors on the internet. So, I’m talking to Sutton and she kept pushing like there was something I was being secretive about. Everybody at the f-cking table obviously thinks something now.”
Mauricio told Kyle that she should have told Sutton to “f-ck off.”
“I think that’s f-cking mean,” he said of Kyle's friends. “That just causes more problems, more rumors, more bullsh-t.”
Kyle was shocked at the insinuation. “That's the f-cking rumor?” Kyle said in a confessional. “It wasn't a gift from Mauricio... That's such a weird thing to say. Guess what, I buy things myself.”
She and pal Morgan Wade also joked about the rumors later in the episode while discussing a new necklace Kyle planned to wear to a party at Sutton's.
"I'm wearing this tonight, so who knows what rumor this will start," Kyle joked. "I mean, maybe he has a whole family in another country. Maybe I do. Who knows? I don't know."
The RHOBH mid-season trailer reveals Kyle Richard’s doubts over her future with Mauricio Umansky
Season 13 of RHOBH revealed that Kyle was still unsure about who she is as a person and what that means for her relationship with her husband. The midseason trailer for Season 13 emphasizes that the show will continue to document their relationship troubles.
“I want to feel happy and fulfilled,” she told him in the trailer, while also admitting in a confessional that she doesn’t know if the two will make it.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky haven’t talked about divorce
Despite their current marriage troubles, Kyle told The Messenger in an interview on Dec. 14 that she and Mauricio have yet to even discuss getting divorced.
“We haven’t spoken about [divorce] yet,” she said. “No, that has not come up yet. Obviously, we know that it is potentially something that could happen with us. We just haven’t gone that route yet.”
“And I’m also very fortunate that we get along, and care about each other very much and that we are a family no matter what,” she told The Messenger. “That’s always what we stand for. That has not changed, and obviously some days are not as great as others. Some days it’s like, ‘Oh it’s a little awkward today.’ And other days, it’s like nothing ever happened, and we’re just all watching TV as a family. We’re taking it a day at a time.”
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s Plans for the 2023 Holiday Season
After spending Thanksgiving together, Kyle confirmed in a November 2023 interview with The Messenger that she and Mauricio will “for sure” be spending Christmas with one another.
“We’re still in the same place,” she told The Messenger. “It’s certainly not a position I ever imagined myself to be in, you know, after being married all these years. And I love him very much, obviously. So that part is obviously difficult, but I do think people do think it’s probably strange, I guess. I don’t know…We were watching movies last night with the girls. And I’m just grateful that we’re as good of friends as we are. And we can navigate through this difficult time the way we are.”
And Kyle told E! News that her and Mauricio will be exchanging Christmas presents this year — as soon as she can figure out what to get him. “I definitely will be giving him a gift if we’re spending Christmas together,” she said. “I just have to figure out what that gift would be.”

Kyle stuck to her word and spent Christmas 2023 with Mauricio and their daughters in Aspen, Colorado, People reported. Just two days before Christmas, Page Six photographers captured the couple decked out in ski gear, hitting the slopes with their daughters.
Kyle shared a video montage of photos from their holiday in Aspen to her Instagram account on December 26, which included pictures of her daughters in fabulous looking winter coats, a handful of mirror selfies from Kyle, their dog, Smokey, in addition to a full family photo of Kyle, Mauricio, and their four daughters on a ski slope.
“Hoping you all had a Merry Christmas,” Kyle wrote in the caption of the post. “To my four daughters, you bring me happiness every day. Thank you for all the love & laughter and for loving each other the way you do. That’s the best gift I could ever receive.”
Mauricio also shared looks at their shared Christmas in his Instagram story.
Mauricio first posted a selfie with Smokey outside in the snow. “Merry Christmas,” he wrote on the story. “Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.”
He later shared videos of him dancing with daughter, Farrah, to “Low” by Flo Rida, and singing a karaoke rendition of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, with daughters Sophia and Alexia.
