Kristen Doute Admits Her Pregnancy Fears: “Only Thing I’m Second Guessing Is My Own Body”
Kristen Doute doesn't want any "bad juju" to hold up her pregnancy plans, but she admitted that starting a family could be harder than she thought.
Kristen Doute has been vocal about her plans to start a family — but there’s just one thing The Valley castmate is feeling nervous about.
“The only thing I second-guess is my own body,” Kristen confessed to her boyfriend Luke Broderick during a trail hike on the series' second episode. “I can’t just get knocked up like any day of the week and I feel like it might be really difficult.”
Kristen Doute Admits Pregnancy Doubts
At 40, the T-shirt designer admitted that getting pregnant may not be easy. .
“I’m 40. I’m five years past a geriatric pregnancy, like that’s f-cked up,” she acknowledged.
But the Vanderpump Rules alum was also determined not to let her doubts get in the way of her dream of starting a family.
“I don’t want to keep talking about that or thinking about it or saying it out loud because I feel like, it’s like I’m putting that out into the universe,” she told Luke. “ I’m just trying to not put all this stress and pressure on myself.”

“So, I guess for me, you’re just spreading doubt right now,” Luke told her of her fears.
“It’s bad juju,” Kristen agreed.
Why is Jax Taylor worried about Kristen’s plan to have a baby?
Kristen has been open about her desire to start a family with her new beau, who she met at a wedding in 2022, but there’s at least one very vocal person who doesn’t seem to be on board with the plan.
Jax Taylor brought Kristen to tears during a pool party confrontation in the series premiere where he accused Kristen of rushing into having a baby with Luke because she felt her biological clock ticking.
After the emotions settled, Jax and Kristen met at a restaurant in Episode 2 to talk it out.
“I guess what I was trying to figure out was, why are my guy friends saying I don’t really trust your decision for your own life, Kristen?” she asked him.
“I don’t care if you have 20 kids, I don’t care if you have five kids. That’s not what I’m saying. I don’t think you guys are on the same page,” Jax replied.
According to Jax, there were major details the couple hadn’t planned out like where they would live (Luke spends the majority of the year on his property in Colorado) and how they planned to co-manage finances.
“I’m pretty good at spotting a Kristen Doute disaster. I can spot it a mile away,” Jax told producers before adding that it “doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to see what’s going to happen here.”
“I’ve seen a lot of people, like Luke, come into Kristen’s life and they leave,” he continued. “They just need therapy afterwards.”
Yet, back at the lunch, Kristen insisted that Luke was her “forever” and not like her past dating mistakes.
“Luke is my forever, like I see that. I feel it,” she said. “I think that you question whether or not you think he’s actually any different than my other ex-boyfriends.”
Jax jokingly suggested Luke was a “sperm donor” and cautioned her against moving too fast in the relationship.
“I’ve been in your life for 20 years, like I f-cking know you pretty damn well, you know me pretty damn well,” he continued. “If I did something stupid you would call me out on it tomorrow and that’s what friends do.”
Kristen shook the caution off and told Jax she wanted him and the other guys in the group to “start treating him like he’s my forever.”
Kristen also found support from the ladies on The Valley later in the episode.
“Literally not one of them should have an opinion on anything to do with you or your body,” mom of three Nia Booko assured her of the guys' opinions on the matter.
“I think Jax’s opinion would absolutely be different if he actually took the time to get to know Luke,” Nia continued. “Luke is an absolutely amazing, quality human.”
At the end of the day, Kristen didn’t seem to take Jax’s concerns too deeply to heart.
“Jax being judgmental is just Jax’s weird, shady way of bragging about his own life,” she later told producers. “He has a house, a wife, and a son, he has it all.The truth is Jax stumbled into a saint who is willing to put up with his bullsh-t. God bless Brittany [Cartwright].”
Kristen Doute Shares Miscarriage News
These days, Jax has relationship issues of his own. In February, his wife, Brittany, announced the couple were taking some time apart to reevaluate their relationship.
As for Kristen, she shared in November on an episode of her podcast, Sex, Love, and What Else Matters with Kristen Doute, that she and Luke had suffered a miscarriage.
"It's really f-cking terrifying because you always think, 'What's wrong? What did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?' And my doctor and my friends have told me, inside and out, up and down, that there's no reason — you can Google it 'til the day you die — there is literally no cause," Kristen continued. "They don't know why."
Despite the heartbreaking experience, the couple is still eager to try again.
“I think we're very hopeful to have a very healthy pregnancy next time around,” Kristen said at the time.
She later confirmed to The Daily Dish in March 2024 that she and Luke are still trying for a baby.
